It's in theaters now. Thoughts?
The Goldfinch
2 and a half hours of boring nothing happens and nonsensical mumbling, the only good part was when young Boris and Theo doing coke
I enjoyed the book, and I'm interested in seeing this. I might take my mum to see it as I know she liked the book too.
>The Goldfinch
What's next, The Bluejay?
Europeangoldfinch.net
Imagine being a shill for this griphook looking motherfucker
Kino
I haven’t watched it but I’m planing to watch it next week
The book was the most pretentious piece of shit I have ever read; then I saw pictures of the author and then it all made sense. Boris' past was beyond ridiculous for a 15 year old it sounded like someone though "what is a cool back story?" and instead of choosing a few things decided to pick all of them.
did they fuck? if no, I'm not interested
They did a line of coke and held hands that’s all
The pacing and the non-linear narrative pisses me off, idk why they did that to the film. The ending was also rushed. Like said the actors are carrying the film. Young Theo and Boris, Sarah Paulson and Luke Wilson are solid
they fuck in the book
Biggest flop of the year
Holy shit, this was written by the same guy who wrote The Snowman. No wonder it's terrible.
It’s shit, anyone who respects their money shouldn’t bother seeing it.
The director should be put out of work for a few years or at least let him work on a smaller project from now on.
It's not totally terrible though, the Stranger Things kid was legitimately good in it, his accent work was good and part was the up side of the film.
by far the worst tartt book, a complete brainfart of the last third
anyway a good movie adaptation would have the museum scene last for half an hour
funny how it sounds, its a lynchian movie
that is her worst book, but donna tartt is an excellent writer that will probably never be numbered among the greats like pynchon or mccarthy, but if you want to read neo-dickensian prose i don't know of any better modern writer. this is probably why you see her deliberate worldbuilding and protag definition as something irrealistic.
>his accent work was good
This is an outright lie.
Saw it last night, the first two acts we eren't that bad if you read the book and knew what would happen. Everything Amsterdam was horrible and people were laughing in the theatre. Young Theo was good but I want to punch Ansel Elgort in the face the whole time. Finn Wolfhard was basically young Tommy Wiseau.
YOU’RE TEARING ME APART THEO!
The accent is very faithful to the book if you realize it is a mix between Ukrainian and Australian and is supposed to sound like a weird Toomy Wiseau. The director/ writers had probably failed to convey how bizarre his accent is supposed to be though.
>neo-dickensian prose
lmao ok user i'll bite. what about the secret history is "neo-dickensian" in style? or did you just read people comparing the goldfinch to dickens because the plot involves a kid going through many trials and decided to drop "neo-dickensian" on us.
>Finn Wolfhard was basically young Tommy Wiseau.
Well shit. Now I want to see this Diablo Cody movie.
really happy roger deakins wasted his time on this instead of lensing dune.
His scenes with young Theo were the funniest part of the film, after that you could walk out and not miss much
Didn't realize it was Deakins. I-I'm also super happy...
Which one should I read
It was too bizarre, like comically bad bizarre. Wiseau atleast has some comedic charm and I wouldn’t compare the two at all. If it was meant to sound like a mix of those two accents they should’ve casted someone else.
because dickens is her main influence regarding the style of writing, of course it's not 1:1 copy
secret history first
then little friend (her best work)
then goldfinch
Thanks
Call me a faggot but I really like the author’s aesthetic
How's freshman year going?
*cast
This. In my theater there were some chuckles and reactions during there scene, then after their scenes ended it turned into an hour of dead silence it was hilarious
Yes, give yourself a clap. My point still stands though.
Ok pajeet
funny in a good or bad way?
>ITT finncucks desperately try to shill this shitfest
my thoughts are that i want to fuck finn's mouth and boy hole
It’s good. The whole film took itself too seriously in an unearned way. His scenes were a nice break from the moody boredom.
Makes me think if the film would be better if it’s mostly focus on Theo’s childhood
Dune is going to be trash anyway
How will you get your dick past his schnoz?
he's losing his edge
perfect time, he'll be getting desperate
>not wanting to cum on his nose
Faggot
About that...
His nose still looks ok there. When he finishes transforming into his brother that's when it's all over.
oh shit...
Jesus, this looks like something out of a German propaganda poster circa 1939
Stop with the Finn lewd
Finn is classy and elegant
he'd be classy giving me a handjob
Does the film have to be good? Is it not enough to see Finn Wolfhard doing a line of coke and kissing another boy while doing a gothic Tommy Wiseau impression?
Just got back. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Well-acted and fantastically shot.
Kill yourself you fat fujo filth.
It’s a good movie
>all that drama and no one's gay
I feel lied to.
you fucking wish you were nick wolfhard
Go to bed Nick...
and tell your brother to eat more
Fujoshits deserve to be shot on sight
Also
>he's totally Tommy Wiseau guise!!
This level of desperation is pathetic
