How did works of David Lynch affected your life?

Eraserhead was the first non-mainstream movie I ever rented from the video store when I was 16. Just thought it looked interesting.

I saw Elephant Man and thought it was really good. Saw the one with the lawnmower and thought the premise was hilarious, turn it turned out to be sweet.

Saw Eraserhead and thought it was gay. Saw Blue Velvet and thought it was gay. Saw inland Empire and lost all faith in Lynch and started to doubt the people who were big fans of his

Black women are best women. Jade from Twin Peaks is a top cutie.

Did you enjoy it?

You sound gay

I have an unhealthy obsession with Twin Peaks.
I think I might legitimately be autistic.

i watched them and then i said "hey that was pretty good" and then i did something else

it's the music

It's just really sad innit.

Lynch is all-style no-substance shallow obscurantist fluff for pseuds who think art is about being wowed by surreal visual effects, so probably either Finnegans Wake or (depending on your opinion, and despite having some actual content to his fluff here and there by accident) Samuel Beckett, who incidentally sucked the dick of the guy who wrote Finnegans Wake.

You could also try Pynchon, if you want middlebrow shit that pseuds force themselves to think they like because they were told it's supposed to be prestigious.

Substance is subjective. Film is not supposed to be art and I doubt that Lynch sees his work as art.

He explores some themes in his films. There is substance in his films you fucking retard.

how does twin peaks compare with his movies?

I was diagnosed autistic and I also have an unhealthy obsession with Twin Peaks.

They say you're not supposed to diagnose yourself but I genuinely think I have autism or some sort of severe mental illness.

based.

He started out as a painter and constantly refers to living the “art life.” He definitely considers his films works of art

well the first time i watched lost highway i had no idea who made it or if it had any prestige and i loved it.

and i think mulholland drive is a masterpiece. it does a superb job at exploring the psyche of its protagonist. the surreal visual effects and the confusing narrative serve that.

People who use arguments such as 'style over substance' are peuds who know nothing about cinema, literature or any other art form in general

The art of cinema is the art of an attitude, the style of a gesture. It is not so much what as how. The what is some aspect of reality rendered mechanically by the camera. The how is what the French critics designate somewhat mystically as mise-en-scene. Auteur criticism is a reaction against sociological criticism that enthroned the what against the how. However, it would be equally fallacious to enthrone the how against the what. The whole point of meaningful style is that it unifies the what and the how into a personal statement

Honestly, reading and understanding Gravity's Rainbow would give a lot of people here some much needed perspective. You can call it middlebrow all you want, there's a lot of stuff in there that would be quite educational for most posters here.

haha cool picture

>asuka
Yep its autism

new season any good?

Absolutely, arguably tops the original though be aware it's much more in line with FWWM and Lynch's more recent films in tone than it is with the original seasons.
