When will A24 bridge the gap between soi horror and Lovecraftian horror?
When will A24 bridge the gap between soi horror and Lovecraftian horror?
good thread
The only a24 film I've seen that was actually good was The Witch. All the other ones I've seen (hereditary, lady bird, and the spectacular now) were eh at best and terrible at worst
It's called spring breakers you pleb
>The Florida Project
>The Killing of a Sacred Deer
>A Ghost Story
>Climax
You need to watch more movies
>The Witch
>good
easily impressed
florida project is so fucking great
the witch was just barely above mediocre. still not bad though.
Isn't The Lighthouse gonna be Lovecraftian as fuck?
>You need to watch more movies
you're aware that there are worthwhile movies outside of a24, right?
also
>Enemy
>Ex Machina
>Room
>Green Room
>The Lobster
If you haven't even seen recent releases from a studio as prevalent as a24 you're not watching enough
okay retard
What are you doing. you're not being a REAL hipster unless you add Under the Skin
Random sidenote Legendary Pictures is pretty based. Whenever I see that shit in the beginning I'm like, "awww yeeeee buddy"
that one sucked
I'm too busy watching Matlock sorry, not sorry
holy shit, based
thanks friendo, its just as good as I remembered
lovecraftian horror does not exist in cinema. there's films that suggest the "incomprehensible evil" ie Chinatown, Eyes Wide Shut, Mulholland Drive), but none that really translate it into the grammar of horror cinema. a24 are unlikely to be the ones that do it anyway, their horror films focus on making underlying dread comprehensible so it can be embraced
>Lovecraftian horror
OH NO I GOT DRUNK AND SAW A BIG OCTOPUS NOW I'M GOING CRAZY AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
NIGGERS
>NIGGERS
holy based
