Could a strong female character be what the Terminator series has been lacking?

I've waited so long for a Terminator movie with a female lead

yeah, if there's one thing the Terminator films have been lacking it's a strong female character

I wonder who wrote this shit

Attached: child.jpg (333x425, 21K)

quick reminder that the Guardian think 12 Years a Slave is the 2nd best film of the Century

STOP MAKING TERMINATOR MOVIES

They are terrible ALL OF THEM

Terminator 2 was the best movie every Terminator movie after it was trash

Attached: c76.png (395x347, 102K)

the first one is the only good one

terminator 2 is arguably the best action flick ever

>Man Child

This to me confirms that some entity is trying to tank this film before it's released. All the "outrage" farmed by endless identical posts about how women are ruining the Terminator franchise, Mackenzie Davis's character being transgender, etc repeated ad nauseam across Yea Forums, YouTube, Twitter, and other social media. Now a conveniently-timed Guardian shitpost-as-article to stir the pot the same day as other outlets "predicted" a low box office opening.

People don't seem to have been intelligent enough to catch onto this yet, but it seems the new corporate shilling strategy to destroy things is not to complain about sexism on Twitter, but to persuade people elsewhere that a piece of media is somehow "cucked". The same thing is happening with Cyberpunk 2077 because the SJW set don't want it to sell and want CDPR shut down. In this case I'm going to guess Disney don't want Cameron doing anything successful unless it's for them.

Now watch a dozen replies to this post call me a tranny, tell me to dilate, tell me to fuck off back to Tumblr, and any number of other canned responses...

Imagine a Terminator movie centered around a woman? Impossible. It’d be like some strong female lead in a sci fi horror space movie. It’s never happened.

Time to buckle up and embrace female heroes you smelly nerds it’s 2019. I get paid to write about pop culture lmao.

Every Terminator since 3 has been male led, so they've got a point. Going back to a female lead might give us Terminator 1/2 level kino.

>some entity
Can you be more specific in your rants?

>The same thing is happening with Cyberpunk 2077 because the SJW set don't want it to sell and want CDPR shut down.
Tranny, dilate, etc.

I get the impression one or more studios in Hollywood don't want Cameron making good movies and showing the viewing public an alternative to capeshit. Alita was better than any Marvel movie, most of the same people behind the camera have been working with him on Dark Fate. Alita also proved he's maybe the only person in Hollywood at this point who can write the dreaded "strong female protagonist" and make a likeable, human character out of them.

((()))

I think the real downfall of this movie is that the villain looks like a total damp rag. A Terminator movie needs a strong antagonist. Arnold was a beast, and Robert Patrick was chillingly creepy. No Terminator movie since then has gotten this right, and the bad guy for this movie seems to be a totally average looking guy. Part of me is hoping everything we've seen so far is a bait and switch, like how we all thought Arnold would be the bad guy again in T-2.

T2 sarah connor is literally the best female action hero after ellen ripley
T3 also had a female terminator

when will they realize that using forced females in male roles is bad idea, and movies will always be failures. There is nothing stopping females being MC in action movies, but you need to write the film in such a way that female being MC works, not just write it like Male MC and swap his gender.

Cameron's original concept for the Terminator was that he would be a totally average-looking man who'd blend into a crowd. Originally Lance Henrikssen was slated to be the T-800 in T1, then Michael Biehn was supposed to be the T-800 with Schwarzenegger playing Reese (the idea being that he was as fit as he was due to the necessity of fighting Terminators in 2029). Cameron realised that in terms of acting ability it would work better the other way around, so really all that's happening in Dark Fate is he's re-establishing his original premise - the Terminator being a completely unremarkable man.

My problem is not about a female lead...My problem is the Idea of having to ruin well stabilished facts to fit a shitty New narrative.John Connor IS the Savior of mankind, that was stabilished in T1 and T2 now they want to Ruin that for some reason, and that was since before the SJW takeover.
>T3 lol i was programed to protect your girlfriend, makes John Connor a weak ass bitch
>Salvation could be a great Idea to show How John Connor is a badass...NOPE lets make this OC Donut Steal the main characters that almost Steal John Connor face in a earlier cut
>Genesys lol Lets make John Connor a bad Guy for reasons!

This franchise is fucked when they keep shitting on The First two movies

>Alita was better than any Marvel movie
>LE MEME ROLLER BLADES
Alita was garbage just like the rest of capeshit movies. For fucks sake man, where are your standards for actual good movies.
I would berry my dick in Alita so deep that whoever could pull me out would be crowned King Arthur. Anime sex bots when.

Attached: Alita.jpg (1280x720, 59K)

This is why I'm OK with the idea of John being killed in the opening titles. They've ruined the character at this point, and the sliding timeline has made him irrelevant when you start adding the dates together. After three separate films with different creative teams, they couldn't come up with a single good idea to advance the character, probably better to just take him off the table at this point.

Watch Alita and Endgame back to back and try to tell me with a straight face that Alita isn't several orders of magnitude better in terms of craftsmanship and storytelling.

>This franchise is fucked when they keep shitting on The First two movies
Second movie kinda shat all over the first one, so here you go. All sequels starting with T2 raped the original premise, it's just that the latter ones didn't have that good of action sequences and acting.

Do fucking SJW even saw Terminator?
Honestly I wish they just kill themselvs and stop forcing their fucking propaganda everywhere.

Attached: 1529577751-linda-hamilton-sarah-connor-terminator.jpg (480x659, 44K)

I watched both. Alita is the pile of shit just like the Endgame, no amount of avatar posting is going to convince me of the opposite. If you consider Alita this much better movie that the capeshit you're either a reactionary faggot or have dogshit taste for movies.

Yeah, but that sucks in actual execution. The Terminator was as imposing as he was exactly because he was Arnold Schwarzenegger. Lore be damned.

40% yourself or die with the 60% when Trump gets re-elected, trannysoy.

Alita has barely any craftsmanship and definitely no fucking storytelling at all, you coombrained retard. Literally all Alita has is 'cute girl smiles and is cute'. For exactly the same experience, and enough of it to last you the rest of your natural lifespan, go binge the literally thousands of worthless fucking contentless 'cute girls are cute and do cute things'-animes designed for the same exact purpose, which is to trick your brain into watching it that the cute girl is smiling at (you) so the desire to kill yourself from loneliness doesn't overwhelm you.

Fucking degenerates.

Alita has good worldbuilding and an okay plot, but it was also kind of a second rate Hollywoodised version of the source material.

>Second movie kinda shat all over the first one,
How ? I'm pretty bad at time travel stories.

If you think Endgame was anywhere near Alita, you're the one with dogshit taste - and Alita's a 7/10 movie at best.

>Waagghh I don't like anime better make a dumb cum meme that'll show him

End yourself, tranny.

Trying too hard, shill.

In today's Hollywood, it's a fucking miracle anyone managed to make a manga adaptation that close to the source material, and free of SJWisms to boot.

He's talking about you, and he's right. You're the reason 90% of anime is garbage for genuinely developmentally retarded faux-autists.

God forbid entertainment be entertaining.

the future is female anons

If they had the means to create more terminators why didn't they just send them to help in t1? Movies stopped making sense the moment the sequels started to come out.

A strong female lead? on Terminator? That´s just madness! What´s next? A strong female lead in an Alien movie? A strong female vampire slayer? A strong female detective stopping some sort of serial killer that takes the skin of his victims?

Damn this SJW are deluded...

whats the best?

it's only beginning

Attached: 1483689798657.gif (252x263, 2.91M)

more like the failure is female

what about terminator 2?

What I've always dreamed of.

Attached: ehh.png (525x593, 299K)

T1 story line had a closed time travel loop. It's a time paradox in itself, but still sorta makes sense. Only one Terminator because time travel gizmo got destroyed, Skynet's gonna get asploded by John, Skynet fucked itself over by sending a Terminator after Sarah, thus creating its own demise since Sarah now knows what Skynet's gonna do in the future. T2 screwed over everything that was established in T1 and made no sense at all and raised a lot of questions. Some examples - if they could send another, more advanced Terminator into the past, why didn't they send it to before the events of T1? If their actions changed the way Skynet is developed, shouldn't that cause multiple different timelines to exist? And if Skynet is inevitable no matter what is done in the past, what does that say about the universe?

>implying anyone will watch this garbage
they will be lucky if manage to make they money back

Thank you for this complete answer, but I'm even more confused now. My brain goes fractal and shuts down every time there's a story about time travel or infinity.

It just wouldn't have been possible in the past, but now it's the current year.

>strong female detective stopping some sort of serial killer that takes the skin of his victims?
what movie is that?

Silence of the Lambs?

Attached: 1420079830024.jpg (560x1000, 138K)

Is this cunt living in a timeline where Terminator: Genisys the last installment of the franchise which starred a female lead doesn't exist?

>Comparing Gun Dream to moeshit

Neck yourself.

To be fair, I don't think anyone remembers Terminator Genisys. I remember Terminator Genisys, and even I don't remember Terminator Genisys.

I always thought it was "crying over you"...

OH FUCK IM GONNA COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMM

>if they could send another, more advanced Terminator into the past, why didn't they send it to before the events of T1?

They can´t because that would result in a logical paradox. The only reason to send a Terminator to before T1 would be the failure of the first one but if they send one to before that point in time the failure is erased so there is never a need to send the second one in the first place.

> If their actions changed the way Skynet is developed, shouldn't that cause multiple different timelines to exist?

That would depend entirely on how time travel works on the Terminator universe, which conveniently is never really explained. We don´t really know if parallel universe exist or even if the events are not not pre ordained to happen exactly as they happen. From a chronological point of view akin to human perception the terminators are indeed altering the time continum but it is also possible that time travel has always been part of history and nothing is actually changing, that this is how the war has always been. When Sarah carves the "no fate" words on the table the movie leads the audience to re signify their meaning from "no future" to "the future is not written/ set in stone" right? The thing is that the only thing we know for sure that changes is Sarah´s perception of that future. The point was to not actually answer and give some hope.

How do I get paid for writing that kind of articles?

I don't understand the comic, someone please explain it to me. Fuck Chris Chan is complex and deep as fuck, the Terrence Malick or David Lynch of the Internet.

More realistically, this is a clumsy attempt to stir up controversy for an agressively mediocre movie whose only selling point was being controversial. But no amount of Hillary Clinton cloning or sexually ambiguous human-giraffe hybrids can outdo the Genesys clusterfuck.

That's probably because when Buffalo Bill sings along to the song he sings "crying over you" even though the song's actual lyrics go "flying over you".

>it's just that the latter ones didn't have that good of action sequences and acting.
The obvious lesson is that these movies need to stop trying to surpass or subvert or undo T2 and just accept it's a foundation future films must build on. It's telling how much better the Sarah Conner Chronicles was despite being a TV series.

Genesis and Sarah Connor Chronicles both established the existence of parallel timelines through all the constant traveling and changing. Skynet keeps getting either delayed or upgraded and even the events of the first movie were altered by a Terminator being sent back and raising further and training Sarah. They can pretty much start any new idea they want and abandon it with this premise.

That doesn´t add up. Skynet send Arnold back in time to kill Sarah, because Johns birth predates Skynets creation. So it only fucked up by creating the time travel tech, because Kyle didn´t exist in the past and so it had no means of knowing that Johns father was a future resistance man. If anything T2 has issues because it averts the reasons for T1 to ever happen, but T3 kinda cleared that out

In fact, no issues really existed prior to Genisys who began with the "rewritten timelines" junk, which is something invented by the comic-book industry to milk IPs.
The issue with Dark Fate is that it tries to maintain the fatalistic notion that you can´t avert judgement day, but writes out Johns role in that, essentially failing to maintain logic in its own timeline. If JD happens regardless then John also steps up regardless. Just saying that a "new" judgement day and a "new" resistance leaders can happen ruins that

There Will Be Blood

1. mckenzie davis does look like a lesbian doing a dylan roof cosplay

2. linda hamilton does look like an old lady that you could kill with one punch - far from the badass they try to sell

3. james cameron is talking about this film with the same excitment he was talking about terminator: genesys

cameron is, at the very best, an ok director, that used to be very clever at reinventing franchises, but his last two movies are boring and superficial.

his best moments are doing action flicks, but once he decided to become a 'serious director'... yeah. ill lass.

Attached: 1567273399368.webm (500x452, 580K)

>Genesis and Sarah Connor Chronicles

I understand what you mean but there is nothing you can say that would make me consider those at all... to me Terminator ended with T2 (and i am pretty sure i am not alone there because, heck, the whole point of the new movie is to erase everything after that. Even if Dark Fate looks like crap and will never be up to T1 and T2 as long as it erases everything after T2 i am good with it. I can live in a timeline where there is only one bad Terminator movie.)

both John Connor and Skynet are responsible for their own creation by sending back Kyle Reese and the T800, the remains of which are used by Cyberdyne to create Skynet in the first place.
T2 makes no sense because if you travel back in time and change the future there is no time machine so nobody travels back in time.
T3 and the "set fate" idea I find retarded, if Kyle Reese came inside Sarah a second earlier or later then John Connor would be Joan Connor or a completely different person, or simply not conceived at all. Consider the difference between siblings, and the incredible odds of your exact genetic makeup resulting from the mixture of your parents DNA.

terrible miscasting

Attached: terminator-cast.jpg (612x459, 157K)

They're not remotely wrong.

She's too smol

Why instead off recycling 80s franchises with old actors, Hollywood dont just create new franchises? I guess its too much... Thats why tv and vidya will eventually kill hollywood

Yea the part where JC and Skynet are self-created is a real paradoxial element, but i dont think Cameron had a sequel in mind when he wrote the first terminator anyhow. He tried to encapsulate the development in T2 without overwriting the first movie in its entirety, but you can´t really do that.
My issue is that T3 and Salvation tried to be honest to Camerons work, but Genisys and Dark Fate (most likely) wants to override it. Cameron doesn´t care because it bankrolls his deep sea shenanigans and Avatar 2

We all know where this is going just stop right now

i eat ass

Terminator has always been about strong female women you retard

We're not ready.

It’s going to bomb horribly. Linda Hamilton looks like a frail grandma. Audiences will buy a young woman accomplishing extraordinary physical feats by channeling the power of motherhood but an old lady kicking ass is silly. I don’t know who the sexless dyke is supposed to appeal to but her appearance evokes immediate discomfort in both sexes. Arnie also looks worn down with no charisma reminding everyone of their own mortality. Finally the storyline is so convoluted and retconned that nobody cares anymore, which is why the characters needed to have mass appeal to make up for it. I think the franchise might be dead anyway but this one will bomb particularly badly since not even the average pleb wants to watch big explosions with such a lame looking cast.

This.
>omg dude, explosions!: The opinion

....is this a fucking joke?

>Could a strong female character be what the Terminator series has been lacking?

Attached: t-x.jpg (1651x840, 67K)

Imagine beimg so retarded/ignorant that you can't appreciate visual storytelling unless its "dark" and full of synth music. You faggots are exhausting. Literally no one who grew up watching these movies hates T2, its only people who think that liking a movie that is more "normie friendly" than the original is bad. Nevermind that T2 is one of the best edited films ever made. You dumb gay fag.

>whitey rise up

>DUUUUDE THERE'S ANOTHER 3 MOVIES?! I THOUGHT SALVATION WAS THE FIRST!

Bootstrap paradox

I always hated T2 faggot

*Predator

every terminator movie has strong female lead...

so T3 would be T1/2 level if the focus was on the female?

Alita was just as capeshit as the rest of capeshit

T3 should have been purely the future war.

That's all people wanted, not a soft-remake of T2.

Salvation tried it, but it failed at capturing the atmosphere and had a stupid plot.

>close to the source material
meme or low standards?

>A movie with a number in the tile or with no subtitle
what a retarded concept bro, I don't watch that jank

You were always a contrarian. Bet you hate Aliens too

Word. Seriously, movies not shitting on their own legacy elements and having standards for reaching cinema apart people was able to recognize a good movie when they saw one, comercial success or not.

These days it would seem people can´t tell anymore... maybe we need to bring back the "direct to DVD" category or make a "direct to streaming" category so people can tell easier...

>In this case I'm going to guess Disney don't want Cameron doing anything successful unless it's for them.
20th Century Fox is responsible international distribution of this film outside of China. Disney owns 20th Century Fox. Join the 40% fuckwit.

cameron is such an annoying egocentric hack faggot that i find fine the mouse showing him who ia the boss.

endgame making more money than avatar eas beautiful - and i would take any other movie than avatar being the numero uno. fuck avatar shit.

>fuck avatar shit.

Still better than capeshit. Box office does not equal movie quality. By that logic the Trasnformers movies and the fast and the furious movies would be the pinacle of cinema, only second to capeshit. Something being popular doesn´t make a movie bad either though. Plenty of blockbusters that are actually good movies out there. Neither Avatar nor any of the MCU and DCU movies are among those.

at least you can jerk off to Emilia Clarke

>They're not remotely wrong.

Attached: 1517795132814.jpg (600x600, 229K)

I just wanna be happy like Lynch is that so much to ask

Yeah, T1 is constructed as a self-contained story. I'd only give T2 a pass if trying to kill John Connor after Skynet will be created but before John becomes awesome counts as a temporal exception. T2 was still a great movie, but it shouldn't be able to happen considering the "factory was Cyberdyne systems" scene they shot for T1.

Speaking of which, did Cameron ever say that the factory was always meant to be Cyberdyne systems and the scene just wouldn't fit in well? Are we to take it that, after T1 premiered and before T2 was a thing, the factory was still Cyberdyne?

youtu.be/UaeNI97PeQs

Pretty dope ending all things considered.

Robert Patrick is proof you can do a unassuming yet threatening Terminator.

new Terminator lacks presence.

In a way, this kind of shits on Sarah Connor’s character a bit.
In the first film, Sarah’s just a ditzy waitress who slowly has to overcome herself and realizes what apocalyptic future is in store.
In T2 she’s tough as fuck, but we’re given moments of vulnerability. She misses her son, she misses her life, but she’s acting so tough because she thinks it’s necessary. She just wants what’s best for her son and in turn humanity, and essentially sacrificed any chance at a normal life for it.

This just seems like “Muh tough female.”

>T3 should have been purely the future war.
> That's all people wanted, not a soft-remake of T2.
This, give us a movie with this aesthetic, that's what we've been wanting since T1.
youtube.com/watch?v=P7nq-r7QWW0

Because everything new must be put through an Identity Politics Approval checklist which stifles any creativity and talent. Therefore the only thing left to do is reprocess older successful IP's through the checklist and watch as they all turn into complete garbage.

Terminator needs to just end. They keep trying to make this franchise a thing and it keeps failing.

Man I miss that TV show. Sucks how it ended on a cliff hanger

it's amazing that Sarah Connor Chronicles used John the best by sending him into the future and then promptly got cancelled

or you could jack off to the 1000s of women hotter than she is

Attached: Bruce-Lee-Quotes-1.jpg (700x525, 48K)

>will it work
No but he'll be able to blame SEXIST PIGS when it doesn't.

We just need to accept that time travel in the Terminator franchise makes no sense. Going nude is a ridiculous requirement to begin with so let's just follow the rabbit hole. Maybe loops happen by default but Skynet's backup plan kicked in so soon after the last intervention attempt that an actual vergence occured. Or maybe only humans can purposely break loops and Skynet is shit out of luck because it's a soulless machine. Humanity lucked out when Kyle Reese was dead set on keeping the timeline on track. Sure, fine, whatever. Now you have a whole virgin T1-only timeline in which T2 essentially never happened. Go nuts, make movies, complete the loop.

Attached: 1550716916936.jpg (500x378, 31K)

Implying it makes one kick 10000 times stronger.

Whatever, do it, because women werent watching Terminator movies because the setting wasnt female enough for them. Women are too silly to be invested in something unless the characters are all female, lets keep the stereotype for that relevant. Men need to step aside from the franchise so women can play for a while in a genre they largely dont care for, and its because there arent enough women, not because they dont care for the genre.

Women still think Sci fi is nerd shit, what is this insistence on pandering to them, the problem isnt the lack of women represented it is the fucking genre. Make a romance movie with 90% men and women love it, make an action sci fi movie with 90% women and women still dont care, its like a mandate that there needs to be more female construction workers, they just dont care, why insist that they should because there is a single digit percentage that do.

The original Terminator is the proof that one can sell romance flick to men. It just needs to have Austrian death machine, some good old violence, time travel side plot and shit.

Robert Patrick was cold and sinister though. This new guy just looks like not much of anything.

I would have had T3 split the difference between T1 and 2 by removing the protector Terminator, and focusing on John being forced to fight for his own life, and become the man he's meant to be. It would have the scale of T2, but also the simpler "puny human vs unstoppable machine" theme of T1.
TX needs to be something more than what it was, also, because that villain was weak in execution. Perhaps nano-tech Terminator that can enslave human bodies like the Borg.
Arnold would be reduced to basically a cameo role in the movie, with the TX tearing through him like tin-foil at the very beginning, establishing TX as a serious force to be reckoned with.
Am unsure of which actor would play TX. Must be someone with intimidating presence who was age appropriate in 03. Perhaps Ron Perlman, or Willem Defoe.
