It isn't legitimate at all, it's a bunch of sensitive white boys obsessively looking to get offended. The castings aren't a perfect depiction of RJs dream cast, but they are barely a deviation from it, and they are difinitely not a point to be discussed for weeks on end. The cast is fine. Yeah, Moiraine is a bit taller, Perrins hair isn't the right type of curly, Egwene and Nynaeve are a bit darker than judt a farmers tan. So what?

What else is there to talk about? It’s blatantly obvious from the casting choices that it’s made by people who most likely aren’t fans of the series, for the generic twitter-age ex-GoT fans looking for the next flavor of the month tv show they can discuss with their friends over some craft beer or pumpkin spice lattes.
