So, this show is obviously totally staged. Were the people in Ali G and Borat in on it, too?
Who is America
Other urls found in this thread:
is that a real show, or an /int/ thread
Yeah, Sacha Baron Cohen show from a few years ago where he created some new characters to foist on "real" participants. Some of it is real I guess, but Dick Cheney smirks in the first two seconds at him and I don't believe Ted Koppel was fooled, either.
what is it with british comedians failing in their home country coming over to America to shit on us and they get applauded for it
>Sasha Baron Cohen
>John Oliver
>that aussie discount brit Jim Jefferies
>James Corden
Treading carefully here, but does Louis Theroux count?
kek
I'd say no since most of his content is still intended for the UK audience
all the others tried to get work in the home countries, failed, and now make their living in America shitting on America while being applauded by America
Sasha Baron Cohen did not fail in the UK, The Ali G Show was one of the most popular comedy shows on TV to the point where even king and queen of daytime TV Richard and Judy got in on the act. Everyone was using his catchphrases 'booyakasha' and 'is it cos I is black?'.
The Ali G movie bombed though, because it was shit.
Also, the main reason he took Ali G to the US is because everyone fucking recognised him over here and couldn't fool anyone with the character any more.
Why is America?
he's half american though, in the sense he had an american farther and duel citizenship before even becoming famous.
also he doesn't shit on america, he just interviews crazy people in a generally neutral and non-confrontational way. all the other late night hosts and ''''comedians'''' are script reading, unfunny propaganda mouth pieces.
Weird Weekends was a different time. It's clearly shitting on America.
>in a generally neutral and non-confrontational way
Have you seen his latest ones? Like the one where he picks on the Phelps (who did nothing wrong) yet again? He espouses extreme bias and has dropped his faux-naif gimmick.
Sacha Baron Cohen is certified kino
my favourite bit is still the one where he proposes building a giant mosque funded by Clintons
its the funniest shit
>This town's lucky to have black people in it!
>Yeah, of course you're lucky to have black people, they add a lot to the society.
>No, you totally missed the-
>Thank you sir, finally, someone appreciates multiculturalism in the society.
>Sacha Baron Cohen Says He Turned Over Disturbing “Who Is America?” Footage to the F.B.I.
>Speaking with Deadline, Cohen revealed his “Gio Moldonado” character filmed an interview with an unspecified Las Vegas hotel concierge that broached the subject of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assault cases. Cohen then pivoted toward “extreme comedy,” implying his character had molested a young boy, though the concierge didn’t react as anticipated. “We thought that the guy would leave the room,” recalled Cohen. “Instead, this concierge stays in the room and I go, ‘listen, you’ve got to help me get rid of the problem.’ And this guy starts advising Gio how to get rid of this issue. We even at one point talk about murdering the boy, and the concierge is just saying, ‘well, listen, I’m really sorry. In this country, we can’t just drown the boy. This is America we don’t do that.’”
>Cohen went on to explain how the concierge offered to connect him with a lawyer to silence the boy, but that wasn’t the end of it. His character next inquired if the concierge could fetch him a “date” with a boy “lower than Bar Mitzvah but older than eight,” and the concierge reportedly replied “yeah, I can put you in touch with somebody who can get you some boys like that.” The stunt was considered “too dark and wrong” for even This Is America, and Cohen’s team subsequently sent their footage to the F.B.I. to investigate. According to Cohen, the bureau evidently decided not to pursue the matter, though the actor noted “This concierge had said that he’d worked for politicians and various billionaires.”
>evidently decided not to pursue the matter
Different guy, but I can't believe this dude actually signed a release
It's not staged bro. Why would a politician be fired over a staged show?
Okay, I'll come clean. You might have guessed it from my vlcsnaps but I'm watching this right now. I think the first episode was loaded with fake encounters with celebrities just to get the show off on good footing and it gave me a mistaken impression.
I'm sure the fakery comes more from editing than them figuring out who he is
Most people understood it was a joke and went along with it. Makes it funnier when you find out Cohen didn’t even realize this and thought asking a guy at a hotel for underage prostitutes was for real when he said he knew a guy for it.
A lot of it seems artificial but there's enough funny stuff mingled in that seems candid to make it an interesting mix.
This thing had by far the gayest shilling campaign on Yea Forums I've ever seen. Thinly veiled propaganda released around the mid-terms that sucked a dick and failed miserably.
It pretty much confirmed what everybody knew - Republicans are mentally ill retards.
i gotta look this up
It was actually the opposite. Tons of seething and accusations of shilling in order to quell discussion of it. Mutts are very sensitive and fragile princesses.
I trust you more than the user, but I'm going to check it out
Pretty sure some of the guests know what's up
