I don't disagree that she was ill-suited for the scene, but it wasn't because she was unqualified. On the contrary, it's clear she knows her shit more than anyone else on Channel Awesome when it comes to actual filmmaking and theory. Channel Awesome is populated by "geeks" who obsess over pop culture trivia. That has its niche to be sure, but Lindsay was always going to be more at home with the video essayists that are at least ostensibly (ostensibly...) more serious about the craft of filmmaking.
It's just that at the time she started there really wasn't much of a scene to speak of. AVGN was the first to really show it was possible to get big doing amateur videos on pop culture media, and N. Critic and his crew (including N.Chick) were in that first wave, so they kind of banked on what they knew worked to get a fanbase, namely that autistic angry style.

I could be wrong here, but I believe if she's taken hormones some changes are irreversible. At least, the deepening of the voice is a result of testosterone and isn't reversed by estrogen. Whereas FtM naturally have their voice deepen with testosterone, MtF actually have to train to achieve a more feminine timbre. Other stuff like body hair may or may not be reversible to some extent, I don't know.
