You know, I'm not the biggest fan of the series, but I've at the very least enjoyed every title I've seen. Anyway, the first one is so fucking cool and I think it's underappreciated by casual viewers because it doesn't have the mask or anything people probably expect. Either way Betsy Palmer as Pamela Voorhees is fucking rad. There are some really beautiful shots of the lake and the nature surrounding it, the movie as a whole is oddly calm for a horror movie and I really like it. Definitely one of the greats. I'll give an honorable mention to Julius getting his head punched off in Jason Takes Manhattan.

The remake did so many things very well. Trent was an all-time great asshole. Those tits were spectacular. The story was exactly what it should've been, Vietcong tunnels and all. The side characters were fine. That opening was really good.

Can't put my finger on what wasn't working for it but I'm sure it'll be clear when I rewatch it on Friday.

The original is better than a lot of people give it credit for. I'd rank it low only because I enjoy the series for its specific formula (tits + kills + tension + entertaining characters) and the first doesn't deliver so much on the tits, kills, or character fronts, but it's still a tense little horror movie.

I'm going to tear through 1-4 and then watch the remake on Friday. The more important question is pizza or chinese food?

It's F13 in space, and exactly as over-the-top as that sounds. Go into it with an open mind and you'll enjoy it. I also think it's decidedly better than the previous three movies that came before it.

I give it credit for trying to do something new, which most franchises don't do (cough *** Halloween). It absolutely is super cheese, but it's fun.

The rain and general atmosphere contributes to my enjoyment of 1-5 so much.

Jason...IN SPACE! is a fine concept and it's not such a bad movie, but it doesn't deliver as well as some of the others. For instance, Hell, despite not having proper Jason in it for most of the movie, has so much gore and tits that it's hard for me to hate it. Plus it's got that early 90s vibe like a Tales From the Crypt episode.

F13 through Part IV are great, Part V has an interesting plot but might as well be non-canon, Part VI is good, Part VII through Part IX are shit, X is good, Remake is good, FVJ is good.

The Jason In Winter concept really didn't turn me on, but I dig him vs. a whole ski resort. I think it would be a great way to up its game. They should go for a direct sequel to the remake. Start it off with him jumping out of the water and murdering the ghost hunter and his sexy sister, then 6 months later card and we get a whole new cast of entertaining characters. Throw in a WASP-y blonde cunt, somebody like Ellis from Die Hard, the plucky girl who works the resort and who naturally is our final girl, the black guy she's into for representation purposes, a slew of Mexican laborers with spunk and 'tude who get slaughtered, and at least two distinct groups of teens we follow, one all dudes one all chicks who actively try to fuck each other.

Holy shit, that would be amazingly comfy. Imagine all the blood-on-snow imagery we'd get, a chase through a blizzard, maybe Jason goes to town on some snow dogs and one makes it to the end and rescues our final girl and her bleeding boo from freezing to death next to Jason's """"dead"""" body.

I was always just really bummed that the 2009 reboot never got a sequel because I really liked it and it made enough money. It's just this dead end, and it was one of the best of the series.

Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre were the only ones from the 2000's remake craze that got sequel / prequel.

Friday the 13th is the shit. Jason is the scariest villain ever. He is an emotionless, mysterious murder machine who cannot be reasoned with. He looks scary as fuck and has no tolerance for degeneracy.
F13th is a really simple formula and the best horror IP and I don't know why there isn't a new film every year.
Jason is SO fucking cool. No other horror icon comes close.

Also maybe we get a scene kind of like that horror movie where the kids get stuck on a ski lift, except Jason is working his way toward them. They drop a fucking chair on Jason's noggin and think that's that as he's covered with snow. Then a shot of them walking away and behind them he rises up and all the snow shakes off of him. He does that pissed off deep breathing shit that Hodder did and there's a chase but it's really a trudge through foot high snow. Plunk, plunk, plunk as he barrels after them. They start rolling down the hill to make up more ground.

Maybe one kill is someone admiring a funny snowman some asshole made earlier and a machete goes through it and stabs him or her, possibly in the face and the blade is between the snowmans eyes like a double head stab.

Blonde WASPy bitch runs the resort, inherited it from her dead dad. Throw in a nod to 80s ski resort movies where she wants to sell it off and this is the last weekend or something. Maybe she's got some investors visiting, so we get a whole bunch of suits for Jason to fuck up.

Big party scene like in Club Dread where nobody is the wiser that shit's going down and then somebody discovers something macabre and everyone goes fucking apeshit.

Ideas abound. But this isn't what we usually get. We'll get some lame fucking "Jason's dad" plot, like anyone was clamoring for that.

A gritty, darker take on that FvJ rave, which was pretty light fun compared to the rest of the series, just like that entire movie really, would be pretty great. Remake Jason's version of Part VII ability to just grab whatever murder weapon he wants from his invisible tool shed might mean him using some pretty cool equipment to slaughter mofos.

Really, the remake sequel should just go as big as it can. The first one sated the isolated house on the lake bloodlust, now we need to sate the Jason-fucks-up-swaths-of-victims bloodlust.

No fren, pre-zombie Jason is best. I actually don't like zombie Jason.

In real life, this is a kino experience, so have fun. It's like camping without the shitty parts, just a cozy cabin and your friends.

Never made sense for it not to get a sequel. I have no idea what happened there. It made good money. It rebooted a popular franchise. And it just disappeared.

I think one of the things the remake did right was showing some of the characters starting to fight back against Jason. The main girl usually does this but almost everybody else just gets killed immediately. I think if they were to make another film they should have a character or a couple characters that really try and fight hard against Jason with either guns, sharp objects, or traps. Maybe like a cop who was former military Rambo vs Jason type scenario. Not have Jason be so over powered.

Writer describes it as a stand alone film almost, kinda like how JGTH and X were. It doesn't discount other movies but it wont mention them. So, I think it could be ok. Wont be like H2018 or H20 where they really did rip away other movies

They could make it where everybody thinks Jason is back and the ones killing people again but they don't realize it is an actual serial killer murdering people. Leaving it open for victims to be off their guard since the killer isn't wearing a hockey mask and is deceiving them into traps. You could even get people to root for Jason to take out the deranged killer in a very gruesome way while also slaughtering people along the way.

If they want a weird one-off F13, they should do another Roy movie.

As for Jason Lives, the meta angle of the film was actually a pretty fresh idea at the time, and I enjoy the film for what it is, but I prefer the movies to take themselves a bit more seriously. Regardless, I tnink it has the best opening sequence from all of the movies, and I think having a fifth film between Parts 4 and 6 was a good idea because it made Jason's resurrection have more buildup and meaning to it. Part 5 also had some nice kills and characters in it.

Where did you get those episodes of Monstervision, btw? I got a little over 60 episodes off IPTorrents a while back, but the only F13 movie they had on there was Part 6.

pretty sure he was a producer on every entry in the series, he only directed part one, though. He created the franchise; he hired Miller to write the screenplay for part one, but the rights were his from the get-go
