The Abyss is great, especially the theatrical version. The SE is ok, but I didn't see that in a theater so it gets fewer nostalgia feels.

Never understood why this film is so loved here. The storyline is about as by-the-numbers as it gets and some of the acting is so bad it honestly makes it hard to watch. I think this is the only film that's ever overridden my sense of 'even if it's bad I at least want to know how it ends' because I turned it off twenty or so minutes from the finish because I legitimately didn't care how it ended.
