So much of what makes The Book of the New Sun interesting is that the narration is unreliable, partially because Severian doesn't understand the things he experiences, partially because he lies sometimes as becomes evident later on when he contradicts earlier statements. Things that are vague to the reader would become obvious to the watcher if you tried to film it (the nature of the Citadel for example, or the Atrium of Time, etc, etc).

No it's pretty dense and Wolfe uses lots of antiquated words or just makes up new words. You just have to power through and eventually you get the hang of it. Don't give up fren I had to look up what an oubliette was too.

How the fuck does this not have an adaptation yet though? It's like game of thrones without the stupid and boring parts and with the comfy adventure feel of LotR, it also has plenty of people who technically could be colored, so I really do not understand why hollywood hasn't laid their hands on this yet.

Another reason why this series is incredibly based is if you read any reviews of it now they are all complaining about how misogynistic it is. Treating women like second-class citizens (which they are) and would definitely be in a federal society. These modern readers are so retarded.
