Not sure about that but I've known a fair few people to be confused by the film since the Nazis (minus the Colonel) tend to come off better than the protagonists.
Its been a trend with recent war films, like Fury too and to some extent the new Wolfenstein game.
I think the problem is they bank on everybody hating Nazis regardless, so they forget to show them doing bad things to people.

Sounds like you're just projecting your own propensity for black and white thinking. Seems more likely to me that because nazis are generally characterized as monsters that humanizing them is a good way to subvert expectations and get the audience thinking about what they're watching. If the Nazis in Basterds were just a bunch of cartoons villains they wouldn't have been nearly as interesting, and obviously Tarantino understood that

I don't project black and white thinking, I enjoy the nuance. In not one interview I've seen of Tarantino (or anyone) talking about IG has he said that he humanised nazis so it's more interesting. Hitler gets blown apart comically at the end by two of the Basterds, so why am I suppose to take some "nuanced look" seriously when the director doesn't?

You know there's a big difference between founding a company, and actually owning it outright? Even that collage you posted has way more "founders" and "subsidiaries" than it does "owners". That's important because it means the decision making process of production is beholden to a committee.

And besides, even if a company was founded by a gentile, what's to say that the overwhelming majority of employees aren't Jews, or any other ideologically minded group?

the harsh reality is that these characters exist in a vacuum and not in reality. both the stoic nazi facing death, and the jew killing him nonchalantly. in reality, the nazi would be scared and the guy hitting him with the bat would likely not want blood on his hands. you're larping hard if you think otherwise.
