So Netflix is currently in a bit of a civil war over the issue of how deal with the fallout from "Sticks and Stones". Especially since they have been getting some major backlash from one of the network's pet projects.
But first; Netflix is split down the middle on Dave Chappelle. The comedy special has brought in a new influx of viewers and subscribers and is one of their most watched orgiginal programs ever. This buys him considerable leyway at the company to keep doing what he's doing, pissing off the left.
On the other hand, there is a lot of woke people who want Chappelle unpersoned. They want Chappelle's contract with Netflix for various comedy specials voided AND all of his works (his specials, Chappelle Show, and his movies) purged from Netflix.
The civil war is egged on by the fact that the lunatic left section of Netflix have not been allowed to screen Chappelle's stand-up specials before they are posted on the website. Chappelle's supporters at Netflix have created a firewall of sorts, so that Chappelle doesn't have to worry about censors.
Aiding the SJW faction though, is one of Netflix's pet projects and media darlings: Hannah Gadsby.
Gadsby HATES HATES HATES Chappelle and "Sticks and Stones". And has made her opinion known to the SJW executives who signed her to a deal for Nanette and spent a huge chunk of the company's budget marketing her and bribing reviewers to rave about her special on the network.
Gadsby actually contacted Chappelle and tour him a new asshole; this was done by way of a SJW Netflix getting ahold of Chappelle's contact information and passing it along to Gadsby. Said executive has since been fired while Chappelle is pissed that Gadsby got one of her Netflix cronies to help her get Chappelle's private information rather than her reaching out to him through normal channels.
And is the reason behind Norm McDonald's recent tweet drawing an "Us vs Them" line; as far as him calling out Gadsby.
(Chappelle himself found Gadsby's tirade amusing and when she finished calling Chappelle an alt-right nazi who hates fags, Chappelle straight faced told Gadsby he was so going to incorporate her rant into his next special and requested Norm and the other commedians he told about said confrontation, not to name Gadsby by name because he plans on doing an entire bit in his next special about his meeting her and her tirade against him)
Gadsby is pissed and has been making it known that if something isn't done about Chappelle, she won't allow Netflix to air her upcoming sequel to Nanette that is supposed to hit Netflix next year. Now, Gadsby's deal is pretty much iron clad but there is fear that Gadsby will beat Chappelle to the punch and use her upcoming special to go after Netflix and Chappelle for promoting hate against the anti-LGBT community.
As it stands though, Gadsby may just do that. She knows her next special is going to have a huge amount of attention from the press and she's allegedly saving her thoughts on Chappelle for when they film the special, for maximum impact towards killing Chappelle's career.
So expect some fireworks with Chappelle and Gadsby going at it in the coming months. And for Netflix to have to pick a side between the straight black man and the butch dyke lesbian.
