here you go
I never would've figured out that that was Rules of the Game; only ones I haven't seen are Cranes and Cleo
The only one I haven't seen is rules of the game, Renoir's a weird case for me, I either love him or can't stand him.
Genuinely angry that not every single film in existence shot by Cranes are flyings cinematographer is subbed.
Is there a high level arthouse list?
Also I dunno, I prefer Vagabond to Cleo because the protaganist is earthier and more unlikable
I fear I may be in love with Faye Wong and jean seaberg.
Also Muh three colours red not on list.
Specifically this one is not subtitled.
Watch I Am Cuba.
The film looks absolutely stunning and unbelievably good for it's time (1966 if i'm not mistaken). This is what definitely inspired Lubezki and Gaspar Noe.
Yeah
See thats the thing, I've see all of his translated stuff except for forty-first, village teacher, dream of a cossack , conflict and Alitet.
Watch first echelon to see his cinematography in colour and yes I am cuba is one of the most beautiful old movies I've seen and the height of his powers.
Step up, bitch roody-poos
Alitet is on youtube but with shit google translate subs.
youtube.com
seeing his cinematography in a snowy setting would be great.
Saw Funeral Parade Of Roses, Ashes Of Time, Through The Glass Darkly and Still Life from Mid Level. All are good, tho I wouldn't call Ashes Of Time a mid level. Also Still Life is good, but I prefer The Platform and World.
Need to watch on The Silver Globe, The Possession was pretty good.
If we include both lists other than rules of the game I'm only missing eros+massacre, although I've seen plenty by Kiju Yoshida so I know the man had some out of this world cinematography going on and was just as able with mainstream and arthouse stuff.
Be aware though, while I absolutely lov how immersive silver globe is and it feels like its days Hard to be God, the film was never finished.
Also wheres anything by Joe, Lav Diaz, Bela Tarr or Reygadas? Or are those in high level?
Jesus of the revolution is such a strange anomaly in Diaz's filmography, you'd never expect him to do a heroic bloodshed film.
Where's Drive?
Lav Diaz is based as fuck, the guy gives zero shit about what genre the film is, is it in color or b/w, he gives minus ten fucks about the length of his movies, often goes for 4-7 hours, and sometimes for 8-10. Literally the definition of an auteur, everything in his films is his, the guy only does what he likes.
not bad Yea Forums. how about this one then?
