Now she has a paid for home in new york city, endless money to spend, powerful iron fist to show off. But she didn't earn all of this, she just dates a rich man.

also what you're seeing is they're taking on more of a ying and yang where they're becoming two sides of the same thing, they also added a kind of marriage between the two characters.

In many forms of media, a male and female pairing to create effectively one character happens often, it's just usually the male dominates the spotlight, this time they flipped it around to appease all the naysayers and while I wasn't happy with everything, she certainly isn't a mary sue. You can be unhappy with the direction they took the characters or how they inverted the storyarc but she already failed on screen and in the past.
