The Deuce

Absolute kino. The modern day The Wire. David Simon pulled it off TWICE. But we have the benefit of hindsight now, and The Deuce is little talked about during its airing just like The Wire was, why is the TV community making the same mistake again? Is it because America is fine with a focus on drugs but not with sex? Golden era kino is unfolding right before our eyes.

it’s because of sneed

leave this board and never return, no one cares about how many levels of irony you're operating on, show sum respect for da kino huh?

I have only seen the first season and it was good but not as great as The Wire.

Only because you haven't been raised for a generation by everyone telling you how The Deuce is great like happened with The Wire. If you're a fan of good television in a truly autistic way then you would've made time for The Deuce S2 by now.

I prefer films. The narrative in season 1 wasn't as compelling and the characters weren't that interesting. It was good but i even liked Treme more.

Both The Wire and Treme are vastly superior.

It's good though but I hate that cunt feminist bartender character.

Suddenly Yea Forums has 2 people who have seen Treme?

Abby cute. Candy with her feminist porn is the cringe

I have seen The Wire, Generation Kill, Treme, Show Me a Hero and first season of The Deuce from Simon. The Deuce was the weakest so far.

have 2 episodes left of season 2. season 1 is better by a cunt hair

I'm pretty sure the last 2 episodes are pretty cool. There's a big death coming if you haven't already seen it

>the ending of show me a hero
Shiet

Not only have I seen it but I went to New Orleans for 15 days last february during Mardi Gras because of it. I'm going back next april for the FQF and I'm considering living there for a while if I get the chance.
I'm french btw

I'm going to watch this show op and if I don't like it ill be back in an hour or two to chastise you.

Is it because Yea Forums understands drugs more than sex? The Melissa scene was hilarious and a realistic fiction.

just Alston's partner so far. but if not him i have a "few" theories

I've been watching from the start and it's still tough to keep up with the names, who the fuck is Alston?

Nevermind, kid that got hung in The Wire

we had treme live threads when it was airing buddy

Treme doesn't look as interesting as his other work

What makes you want to live there? I've been to New Orleans for a week. Doesn't seem worth it to me, take risks in your vacations not in where you live. A higher risk rate for a few days, big deal odds are near 0 anything bad will happen to you, so New Orleans is absolutely worth vacationing to. But not living there for years on end, because that's how your luck runs out fast.

we did. i started many of them

I just fell in love with the city and its atmosphere.
Some neighborhoods are very nice and safe as well. Most of the criminality is concentrated in very specific areas apparently.

The show is kino for how it portrays the realities of the times back then against fictional portrayals in film. It's a sort of metaphor for how ordinary period pieces are fetishizing an era instead of simply letting be what it really is.

got to CC's death. gotta say I thought it would be someone else but it makes a lot of sense!

CC's death was satisfying as fuck but he was a good pimp. There's also another one

OP, was looking forward to The Deuce as I have a lifelong fixation on 42nd Street, Times Square, New York of the 1970's but this show is a fucking snore. It meanders and lacks the energy that was coming from the city during that era. I bought series 1&2 and will watch/buy 3 because I'm a completist but this wont be one to stand the test of time!!!FACT!!!

It looks like scumbag central

>I prefer films. The narrative in season 1 wasn't as compelling and the characters weren't that interesting.

100% THIS. Probably would have been better as a mini-series that cuts the fat and gives the stories more drive!!!FACT!!!
