THE ROLES TOM CRUISE TURNED DOWN

He would've been based in literally all of them.

>FOOTLOOSE - Ren McCormack (Kevin Bacon)
>WALL STREET - Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen)
>STARMAN - Starman (Jeff Bridges)
>GHOST - Sam Wheat (Patrick Swayze)
>EDWARD SCISSORHANDS – Edward (Johnny Depp)
>INDECENT PROPOSAL - David Murphy (Woody Harrelson)
>THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION - Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins)
>SPEED - Jack Traven (Keanu Reeves)
>TITANIC - Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio)
>ENEMY OF THE STATE - Robert Clayton Dean (Will Smith)
>DONNIE BRASCO - Donnie Brasco (Johnny Depp)
>THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY - Tom Ripley (Matt Damon)
>HULK - Bruce Banner (Eric Bana)
>A BEAUTIFUL MIND - John Nash (Russell Crowe)
>COLD MOUNTAIN - W.P. Inman (Jude Law)
>ALEXANDER - Alexander (Colin Farrell)
>MIAMI VICE - Detective James "Sonny" Crockett (Colin Farrell)
>THE DEPARTED - Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio)
>I AM LEGEND - Robert Neville (Will Smith)
>IRON MAN - Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.)
>THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON - Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt)
>STAR TREK – Starfleet Admiral Richard Barnett (Tyler Perry)

>5'7 Hulk
Would it have been a comedy?

Obviously he would be playing Bruce Banner.

he would have been an amazing tony stark

These aren't exactly roles he turned down, his name was just considered prior to filming

he would've played none of these well.

You don't just consider a name like Tom Cruise, you just offer and wait for them to tell you no

Painting based tom green and having him make dinosaur noises for 2 hours would've been better than any solo Hulk movie we've had to date

Of the one's I've seen:

>STARMAN - Starman (Jeff Bridges)
I AM LEGEND - Robert Neville (Will Smith)
>THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON - Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt)
>EDWARD SCISSORHANDS – Edward (Johnny Depp)
>THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION - Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins)

Could have worked.

>EDWARD SCISSORHANDS – Edward (Johnny Depp)
SPEED - Jack Traven (Keanu Reeves)
A BEAUTIFUL MIND - John Nash (Russell Crowe)

Miscast. Speed would have been interesting but he doesn't have the right personality for an LA cop.

>TITANIC - Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio)
>THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY - Tom Ripley (Matt Damon)
>THE DEPARTED - Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio)

Too old.

>IRON MAN - Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.)
>STAR TREK – Starfleet Admiral Richard Barnett (Tyler Perry)

Waste of talent.

I'd like to see him work with Stone and Scorsese and Mann again

I don't agree with Scissorhands. Depp was perfect for that role. And the I am Legend we got was trash and would've been a waste of his talent.

And finally make Neil Jordan's LESTAT.

Maybe now, but that was not always the case

all of those movies are better for not having him

I included ES in my "miscast" section by accident, but I can see Cruise pulling off the character in a different way than Depp.

As for I Am Legend, yeah it's a bad movie, but Cruise plus a better ending would have made it more watchable.

I'm glad he let his scifi nerd flag fly for all those years. Got a lotta great scifi action out of him. Probably what attracted him to the robot death cult. Dude's a maniac, I wish I was a fraction as awesome.

Add Rick from Mummy. He was busy with mission impossible and eyes wide shut so they took JUST meme man instead. It's also the main reason Tom wanted to be in reboot. Also he was supposed to play Van Helsing too.

Cruise has no humanity. He tries to fake it but he comes off like a snake eyed creep. Sure, I love some of his movies but he doesn't have an ounce of sincerity in him!!!FACT!!!

if Cruise ended up as Tony Stark he would have demanded to produce the entire MCU slate alongside Kevin Fiege. Can't even imagine what that would have looked like.

>if Cruise ended up as Tony Stark he would have demanded to produce the entire MCU slate alongside Kevin Fiege. Can't even imagine what that would have looked like.

Would have been a fucking disaster!!!FACT!!!

Brie Larson

>THE DEPARTED - Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio)
>Too old.

The characters were originally meant to be older. Brad Pitt was up for Matt Damon's role around the same time.

He would have made Miami Vice even cooler than it already is, would have loved to see him play James Crockett, I think it suits him well

>Titanic
Wasn't he almost 40 by that point? Way too old.

>>ALEXANDER - Alexander (Colin Farrell)
Tom Cruise having sex with another man? Completely unbelievable. Very suppressive.
