One of the two classic "hippie Jesus" films (my image being the other).

But... JCS did have "screaming Jesus", so I guess that's a plus. JCS is a better film/stage production, but Godspell has better music

JSC had Herod dancing

Have you ever seen the live London version? (it came out on DVD a few years back). Worth the $5 when it goes on sale during christmas season.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYY IIIIIIII SHOULD DIE

I know the 1996 recording. Damn, it's the best Jesus and the best JSC

The one I'm talking about was a 2012 production. Filmed from a live London show.

I know the version makes a difference. For example, I bought a digital copy of the Godspell soundtrack. But instead of the original version, it wound up being "the new broadway cast". It wasn't bad, but it was a bit too "glee" for me in the way it was presented. For example, starting around the 1:04 mark in this video:

Going as JCSS Caiaphas for Halloween this year lads, wish me luck

Where do you even find a hat like that these days?

I'm going to be Jesus in a theater company's production of this in February. What am I in for?

Can you sing? If not, I wouldn't worry, you're only playing the lead (or second part) in one of the most famous broadway productions ever (kek)

The heaviest lifting (singing, ect) in this production is Judas, so you should be fine.

phantom of the opera > joseph and the amazing technicolour dreamcoat > evita > love never dies > cats > jesus christ superstar > starlight express

>but you DREAM, Yea Forums..

I can vaguely carry a tune.

I wanted to be Judas but I have the A2 to G5 range and the other guy at callbacks with a high reaching register didn't so I'm not.

> 1776 > all of those
Evita never really worked for me. Not sure why.

what has 1776 got to do with andrew lloyd webber?

Have you ever seen any of the productions, like the 70's movie or the later broadway productions? While you have to do your own thing, it probably wouldn't hurt to see how others have done it.

Nothing, just a random thought

>And then I saw thousands of millions crying for this man. And then I heard them mentioning my name and leaving me the blame...
Why is JCSS so kino lads, Phantom of the Opera be damned

I grew up listening to the 1970 album because my dad had it. Also I've seen Colm Wilkinson's Gethsemane which is has some great things no one else does in the song but he doesn't do the G5 and some other screamed notes.

Herod's dance or whatever his name was, was top tier.

more like Jesus Based Superstud

I'd always wanted to be in a theatre production, of anything really. Didn't have those in my country (well for non-actors anyway), wonder if I could find some amateur theatre in Munich.

If they could put on a musical Hamlet on Gilligan's Island, you should be able to scrap together a company.

Now that the dust has settled, who was in the wrong here?

Honestly, being a chorus member is harder than being one of the lead roles. There are a shit ton of harmony lines and it's easy to lose yours.
Also weird time signatures and shit.

Mary. It's always the woman.

Fun fact - Porn star Paul Thomas was in that as one of the Zealots.

I thought he was Peter

Depends really. I'm always chorus in things. Chorus has to learn a shit tonne of choreography and harmonies, but the trade off is not learning lines/solos/what I'm sure must be nerve racking hoping your voice doesn't break or something on high notes after constantly resinging the same songs over and over in rehearsals, and less acting demands. Also for JCSS particularly Jesus and Judas just have a vocal demand that's beyond what the chorus have to do.
