Fifth Element was more comfy and more fun to rewatch but yes, the SG movie was close.
Problem with SG movie was they didn't go far, just earth then a small desert area then back

yes. I just watched the first movie yday. i hardly watch anything but i literally sat down and watched it. still a 10/10 now with a drop of nostalgia. God bless Richard Dean & god bless SG-1. I will probably cry at whatever remake will come out sooner or later.

It's easily a nerd classic and favorite. I love it.
The thing is it had SOOO much potential in the premise, but let's down so hard later on, it just doesn't live up to it's potential. Plus the whole muh refugee people and lame ass love story really ruined it.

You have it backwards. That scene was intentionally added to the pilot so the series would get an M rating instead of a Y-13 or Y-7 going forward. Explicit content was never necessary in the stories they were telling but they didn't want people thinking it was a kid's show.

I watched a few episodes and it bothered me that the actor they used for Lt Kawalsky in the series looks more like the character who French Stewart was playing (Lt Feretti) in the movie.
And vice versa series Feretti actor looked like movie's Kawalsky actor

Well they couldn't very well pay for everyone in the movie to be in the show. they did get one or two of the actors in the movie on the show. Kasuf for one.

Watched this movie recently and it didnt hold up at all at least the scene in the beginning where they go thru the gate. The gate compound looks like something out of a 1985 movie, not 1995.
The Fifth Element held up a lot better
