I feel like most 90's/00's kids can relate in the same way with this film, including myself. Though I wasn't that hardcore during my teenage years I can relate to the whole hangin out with a bunch of friends and being an annoying brat out there.

I can't watch Kids because an old highschool classmate of mine looked exactly like Chloe Sevigny. Never spoke with her more than two words but it's jarring seeing her onscreen. I don't have that problem in other movies where she's older, though.

This was the first independent film I saw in the theater, KOIN Center down town Portland mid 90s. AIDS was a legit threat at the time and the whole movie felt relavent, good times.

The direction of Kids was like reality TV. It masked the bad acting very well and made the characters seem like real people.
But movies are just movies. Teenagers who like to talk loudly about fucking girls in real life are unpleasant to be around. You wouldn't want to stick around to listen to them.
