sexually frustrated and friendless

no matter what you do, you will end up alone

What is the actual message of the movie?

No the point is I didn't understand this nor the first movie, can any kind user explain it to me.

Life is suffering

Yes but what is the message of this movie?

That the greatest sense of purpose and fulfillment does not come from selfish desires, but from helping others. That’s what I took from it anyhow. K is so obsessed with being the “special” replicant, but it is for completely self-centered reason. He is ultimately satisfied in death because he knows that he reunited another with someone they love (declared and his daughter).

No, it is to FIND your self.

In other words to be yourself

You can't be something if you have no idea what it is. So the movie was about finding his self, an identity that satisfied him. There is a difference.

Kindness comes in strange packages.

To be human is to find a purpose worth fighting for.

This movie advocates for Christian existentialism not going to explain how

No, it's that no matter how much you want to believe otherwise, you'll always be a sexless no gf autist until the day you die

You're not special, fuck dialectics, do what is right, you're still not special

I thought it was because he became a special replicant by denying his programming.

Explain Joi's role to me apart from being a waifu

Shes supposed to be the Mary Magdalene to Goose Jesus

Perfectly emulates human emotion, acts as a source of confirmation bias for her owner, but at the end of it all, has no real humanity or "soul" as K realizes at the end when she calls him Joe in that floating ad. She's not a human, nor does she have the potential to become "human" like replicants. She's software, designed to exist for the sole purpose of providing emotional support for her owner.

It shows that happiness isn't real

Contrasts with every “real” female as she is a loyal and thus unreal.

Robin Wright was loyal, even after she was told that K lied.

She abused him and viewed him as nothing more than a tool, and honestly took the choice defend him to spite the other female that had interest in him, typical cattiness.

I feel like it had a lot to do with freedom of choice that humans have and doing the right thing. He didn't have to help Deckard, he choose to. That's how good deeds work. You can feel like shit or that it has nothing to do with you but you can still choose to help and that makes humans feel filled with purpose for some reason. I think anything about not just making the choices your emotions tell you to makes people feel that way

>She abused him and viewed him as nothing more than a tool
Expecting anything more than that out of a woman is unrealistic.

Don't trust AI

Alien and BR are in same universe except alien is set in farther ahead and since they are no replicants in future , we assume that replicants are banned and all are destroyed and their attempts at breeding and rebellion all fail. The movies message is

no, the point of the movie is one must aim to be something greater than oneself

Helping people is what's right.

Interesting that ship or a ship of same class from aliens is shown in br2049 aliens is set in 2179 ' 130 years later , so the space marines in aliens where using a ship of at least that design age possibly even that old.

Also thats his dad :)

No its not K is just an android with deckards daughters memories

No hes a real boy harrison ford had a son and a daughter

What I took away is that you thinking you are important and you matter is generally irrelevant. There’s no plot controlling your life, no fate, only choices that have consequences. K began to believe he was special (as reinforced by Joi, whose job is to make him feel special). But he wasn’t really. The film made you think so too, and they pull the rug from under you, and suddenly K is basically a supporting character in another arc. Humility is the most important human trait.

This movie is incredible btw

Wallace succeeded in making mass producing replicants that can reproduce and are indistinguishable from humans. There is a second blackout so the replicants can not be discovered to the point that by 2179 most people do not know if they are human or replicant. The chaos surrounding the second blackout caused irreparable damage to many societies resulting in a mini dark age so technology only started advancing shortly before the Alien movies.
