Season 1 is ROUGH. They only got their shit together after that. But yeah it's 90s kino. It has social messaging like any show today, but back in the 90s they didn't beat you over the head with it and made their points subtley, so you can enjoy it if you aren't into the politicizing sitcoms of today.

It's a good show. It's funny how it started more down to earth and realistic, but when the characters couldn't grow that way anymore, the show became more ridiculous (plot wise) and meta, but it still was entertaining as a comedy.
