I was eating between 800 and 1200 calories a day. I was drinking mostly water but sometimes I would drink sugar-free iced tea or black coffee.

I kinda feel into intermittent fasting naturally.
Light breakfast foods are almost all sugar and heavier breakfast foods are too dense and both make me sluggish. I also don't sleep well when I eat right before bed.
My current routine is nothing before noon except black coffee, light lunch at noon, no caffeine after noon, dinner at about 6 or 7, and nothing after 8. No crashes, sleep in the evening is restful. Pretty great actually.
20lbs of it is water, I have lost half once just being active for 3 weeks
I found a form of intermittent fasting to be a good way for me to lose weight. I didn't eat breakfast (which wasn't a change, but still) cut down snacks to almost zero, introduced 1 meal replacement shake per week for dinner, then upped it to 2 per week, and then occasionally did 3 per week. Beyond that, I think I did one other "light" meal per week, and the rest of the meals I ate pretty much whatever I wanted (fast food or other eating out with only a little attention paid to the quality of the food, though I did eventually cut out non-diet soda entirely). Sure, maybe not the healthiest way to lose weight, but as someone who loves shitty food, it was much easier than trying to make every meal somewhat healthy.
I wear it well and have good posture. I doubt most people even realize I’m fat just big.

""starvation mode"" is a complete meme. If you're alive and moving, you're burning calories. If you stop eating, your body doesn't enter some quantum realm that no longer requires calories, it just starts burning the fat on your body up until the moment you start eating again. You might feel weaker and be less inclined to move, which will necessarily slow down your metabolism, but not but a huge amount.

You don't understand the concept of fasting. No surprise considering your size.
Fasting forces your body to use it's fat storage as energy to keep it's metabolic functions running. The moment you quit fasting and start eating again is when your body will start using the food as energy. You see; fat molecules are much harder to break down for energy than say carbohydrates. The body 100% prefers using any carbohydrates you consume as fuel. Fat storage is just a backup for energy usage, thus fasting and calorie cutting is forcing your body to take from the fat storage to keep you alive.
If your body decided to convert 100% of all the food you ate after a fast to fat; you would die from your body shutting down due to not being able to feed your metabolic processes the fuel it needs.
What is metabolism you may ask? It's the energy your body uses to keep internal processes running; your heart, your brain, your organs, etc. This is why it's especialy silly when fat people yack about their metabolism being slow. You don't rely on your metabolic processes to burn fat; that's why you exercise to increase the amount of energy your body needs.
You won't read this and even if you did, you wouldn't understand it. And even if you understood it, you'd just wolf down another large stuffed crust pizza because you're a glutton with no control over your cravings.
