And you dont get paid at all. Who won here?

>“Joker” is the human-sized and adult-oriented comic book movie that Marvel critics have been clamoring for — there’s no action, no spandex, no obvious visual effects, and the whole thing is so gritty and serious that DCEU fanboys will feel as if they’ve died and seen the Snyder Cut — but it’s also the worst-case scenario for the rest of the film world, as it points towards a grim future in which the inmates have taken over the asylum, and even the most repulsive of mid-budget character studies can be massive hits (and Oscar contenders) so long as they’re at least tangentially related to some popular intellectual property. The next “Lost in Translation” will be about Black Widow and Howard Stark spending a weekend together at a Sokovia hotel; the next “Carol” will be an achingly beautiful period drama about young Valkyrie falling in love with a blonde woman she meets in an Asgardian department store.
Based as fuck. capeshitters like OP blown out

He has not even seen Taxi Driver

Dude that's a incredibly valid point though. It's as if we're unable to have thoughtful movies be successful without it being related to some superhero.

>what is Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

This guy gave Shazam, Enter the Spiderverse and Endgame 4 stars and The Last Jedi 4.5 stars

>payed

He ripped off the whole thing from another review.

>this movie being good means Hollywood may start making good movies again and that's a bad thing
Just say you work for the mouse David you're not fooling anyone

>payed
Back to high school

>payed
See

He hates capeshit. And he’s absolutely spot on with the last bit.

>guy whose not joker causes uprising in the city
>UHHHHH THIS MOVIE IS UNREALISTIC AND PORTRAYS HUMANS AS LITTLE MORE THAN ANIMALS VERY NIHILISTIC OF YOU DIRECTOR TODD PHILLIPS

>guy whose joker causes uprising in the city
>UGHHHH YET ANOTHER DERIVATIVE CAPESHIT MOVIE I PREFER MY BLACK AND WHITE ROMANTIC DRAMAS THANK YOU VERY MUCH PLEB

why did he give shazam a 4/5 then?

>all those angry shitskins in the comments
YIKES
I think we now know who we should actually watch out for during showings

I don't know. but reviewers usually get paid. It's kinda like their job. Very lame job, but job what a job if it pays the bills

He said last jedi should win an oscar.
capeshit > star wars

The only thing that feels off in that write-up is the "toxic rallying cry for incels" thing, since it plays into the current zeitgeist idea of prescriptivist culture (i.e. the idea that fictional media has an impact on how people perceive reality, therefore it has a moral obligation to adhere to foster positive depictions of etc., etc.), which is a flawed premise with no evidence to back it up, so getting angry at a movie because hypothetical people might hypothetically see it as a "rallying cry" is a dumb reason to dislike a movie.

But everything else about how this film is basically just capeshit putting on a fancy pair of clothes and dressing up like a proper film is more or less spot-on, though again that's not really the fault of the film itself but rather the culture that gave rise to it, where attaching superheroes to stuff makes it more successful.

>capeshit > star wars

This depends on what capeshit we're talking about, and which star wars we're talking about. I wasn't particularly fond of either of the disney star wars sequels (to say nothing of the spinoffs), but they were probably better than about ~50% of the capeshit movies I've seen over the last however many years. Though comparing them is moot since none of these movies, capeshit OR star wars, deserve to be anywhere near the academy awards for categories outside of VFX.

But then again, the oscars are straight garbage and have been for quite a long time, so maybe it really is time to just pull back the curtain and reveal the man behind it and just start handing awards to capeshit and star wars. I mean Disney already practically owns the animated film category - why not just give them the others too?

Explain for brainlet, it seems like he's praising it for being different but hating it because its edgy

>payed
Pure autism

he hates it because the director is an edgelord
you really can't make this stuff up

lol, is this guy an actual critic or what

gave endgame 4 stars

he writes for indiewire. truly embarrassing

Wouldn't it make Taxi Driver bad as well?

I read it and basically from what I understand he hates how edgy it is and hates incels and how it glorified it and how it might pave the way for future capeshit to be dark like it since its oscarbait, honestly review just reads like he's mad about someone desu

that's what he wants to be known as

Attached: davidehrlich.png (352x1240, 46K)

if Taxi Driver came out today these people would hate it
christ thats embrassing

>He said last jedi should win an oscar
At some point shilling for disney must get tiresome

I would rather watch all of those, as long as it's not Brie Larson and Tessa Thompson of course

why are letterbox reviewers like this?

Attached: file.png (1374x1095, 361K)

That's a valid criticism

of course you would
actual films are too highbrow for you

Attached: wtf.png (494x500, 74K)

>if the characters are white, the film isnt valid!!

Attached: file.png (450x487, 134K)

>you cant and shouldn't make movies that our current boogymen, those dastardly incels, might relate to.
Taxi Driver and Falling Down would get the exact same review from this faggot.

>responsibly handle such hazardous material
Only elitists like me are allowed to portray wronthink!

>caring about the opinions of some old fart
