but you think Reddit pilgrim is good in comparison
why the fuck do people like the social network
Fucking autists
>It’s bad because a redittor said that they liked it
Thinking that Inception is the best movie of 2010 is way more reddit than liking Scott Pilgrim
>4 out of 9 are French
CULTURAL SUPERPOWER
The Social Network
The Tree of Life
Moonrise Kingdom
Prisoners
The Look of Silence
Sicario
Green Room (although I haven't seen a lot from 2016)
Blade Runner 2049
They Shall Not Grow Old
I'm yet to watch any movie made this year
Inception is less reddit than scott pilgrim
And I never said it's bad I like the movie but it is far from being great. the chracatres are unlikable assholes and it's mainly style over substance
Not him but Scott Pilgrim is really great at style, and additionally it has quite a lot to say about current year relationships. Which explains why it's been surprisingly influential. Inception is... what, what's the point of it even?
I unironically have not seen a single one of those
>The Hunt
Nice incel strawman movie there. How much do you hate women?
The point of inception was to be a entertaining visual effects piece with a cool concept. Not everything has to be deep.
>it has quite a lot to say about current year relationships.
interesting theory, this makes me want to rewatch it and look deeper into the film
Do you really have to start this shit now?
>not a single person put under the skin for 2013
i always knew Yea Forums were plebs
Sure, but then you can't say it beats Scott Pilgrim on substance.
I had a discussion with a female friend about Scott Pilgrim recently, because of that Negative XP song (about the BPD girl who wants to be like Ramona Flowers), and we both agreed that Ramona Flowers seems to be much more of a fantasy for men than a rolemodel for women. But why exactly is this? She's this magical pixie that appears in the beta protag's life and fixes it. Except she doesn't actually do anything to fix it, what she does is provide a clear goal and motivation for him, made additionally appealing by being framed as a video game. The story is about the ultimate young male fantasy, which really is just to have a purpose, a sense of direction, with the knowledge of being rewarded with female affection.
I actually would have included Under the Skin, but if we have to pick one for each year I'm still picking Blue Is the Warmest Colour over it:
It's my #2 for 2013 ralph
La Grande Bellezza was better.
There are far better stories of aliens assimilating into human life, let alone broader stories of outsiders assimilating into new cultures.
An obvious example would be The Man Who Fell To Earth
Rate the list my friend made
incredible hulk 2008 lol
>Inception
>Arrival
10/10
>baby Driver

>the rest

2017: Blade Runner 2049
2018: Shoplifters
2019: Dolor y Gloria
Pretty good list but I still haven't seen far left and Spideyverse yet
Based Embrace Of The Serpent poster, I literally just bought tht up in the "art" film thread. Jan Bivjoet is incredible, have you seen Borgman? Dunno if you're a fan of Old Uncle Bill but did you know Richard Evans-Schulz, the second botanist in Embrace..., was the first guy to put William S. Burroughs "on the right track" in his search for yage/ayahuasca/banister caapi? I thought that was interesting and it was the second deciding factor to bring me to stay awake until like 4am (the first being the amazing Jan Bivjoet) to catch the Film4 terrestrial TV premier. So glad I did, gonna buy the blu-ray soon.

Dude no dis intended but you have fucking Inception, Knight Of Cups (!!!!) and Wolf Of Wall Street on your list. Nightcrawler/Tree Of Life/Roma/The Master and Blade Runner 2049 are all ridiculously, breathtakingly fantastic but Manchester By The Sea is Reddit as fuck (whatever that really means). Still haven't seen OUATIH
>have you seen Borgman?
Not yet, i will check that out.
I didn't know that, that's interesting. Have you seen Birds of Passage from Guerra?

2010 is not part of this decade, mouthbreathers
>2010 isn't part of the 10's
What did he mean by this
Why the Haneke?
(you)
Except it is.
>2000 is part of 90
>90 is part of 80
Etc. etc. You're stupid and not worth more attention than is being currently given.
It's part of the 10's.
The decade started in 2011 though, seeing as 1 was the first year in our calender. The first decade was 1-10; the first year of the second decade was 11 AD.
No it wasn't
This. I've been trying to explain this since all those idiots thought the new millennium started January 1st, 2000. Think of it like this. When you have a 10 dollar bill, you don't have dollars 0 through 9, but 1 through 10. It's that simple.
Lmao learn to count, jackass
Her sucked. Wolf of Wall Street was easily the best film of 2013.
Climax was noe's worst
>There is no such thing as Year 0
Yes there is.
By your brilliant math logic, a person with $0.50 has no money.
No there isn't
They don't have a dollar, that's for sure
2010: Coldfish
2011: Melancholia
2012: Wolf Children (worst year)
2013: The Great Beauty
2014: Whiplash
2015: The Lobster
2016: Silence (best year)
2017: The Phantom Thread
2018: Loro
2019: Midsommar
Boring.
Reddit.
Pretty good.
Great list, but 1 movie per year is 1 movie per year.
Based and shyamalanpilled.
Pedantic.
Best list.
> 1 movie per year is 1 movie per year
I couldn't pick one, especially in 2011.
>loro
Why?
I'm a sucker for Sorrentino and the international version was a blast for me. I haven't seen the full 2-part version yet.
Really? I thought it was the weakest one from him that i have seen. The first part of the film when Silvio wasn't on screen was kind of mediocre, later it became better but still not that great. It felt like a huge missed opportunity.

that's literally the best year of the decade
Not a single mention of Enemy in this thread? Fucking pathetic.
Yes, i agree. Two of the best films of the decade are from 2011 imo.
Norte was better
It's good, not the best of its year.
>springbreakers

Calm down, Spiderman

2018: Bad Times at the El Royale
2019: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
I have yet to see one person put Gone Girl. Disgusting plebs.
Cringe
Borgman is fantastic...do you know Passolini's Teorema w/Terence Stamp in the main role? It's *kind of* like that but much more menacing and mephistophelian. Great film.
I have not seen Birds of Passage, it looks great, I'll definitely check it out, any other Guerra films worth watching? Well, I'm sure they're all pretty great but Embrace...really WAS a transcendental cinematic experience in a way very few films are.
yikes
Based Lobsterposter. You checked out The Favourite yet?!
Pleb.
Bone Tomahawk was based, but Escape From Cell Block 99 was even better, I thought. For a start it's just SUCH a well-paced film with ne'er a wrong note.
It's a problematic movie, especially it's portrayal of Cis white christian man beating up and insulting minorities
Teorema is really good. You just sold me on Borgman.
The Wind Journeys is really good. Not as great as Serpent tho.
pleb
Gone Girl is C tier novel with a good director behind it not some great masterpiece.
Not a masterpiece but it was great.
>Dolor y Gloria
It’s fine but doesn’t compare to the kinoest Almodovar: La Mala Educación, Mujeres Al Borde de un Ataque De Nervios, Todo Sobre Mi Madre, Volver y Los Abrazos Rotos
