difference between golden lion and grand jury prize?

>barbarians this low
disappointing, the book is amazing

>difference between golden lion and grand jury prize?
1st place and 2nd place

Then the Silver Lion for best director, that used to be the "2nd place award"

And there's also the Special Jury Prize.

in 1954 the 2nd place award went to
>On the Waterfront by Elia Kazan
>Sansho the Bailiff by Kenji Mizoguchi
>Seven Samurai by Akira Kurosawa
>La Strada by Federico Fellini
what a year

What is special jury prize

The "some juries loved it but the president hated it so we made up a consolation prize for it" award

>Golden Lion
The Painted Bird
>Grand Jury Prize
Martin Eden
>Silver Lion (Best director)
Baumbach
>Best Actor
Mark Rylance
>Best Actress
Gong Li

I would say that Martin Eden, J'Accuse, The Painted Bird and About Endlessness will be among winners. These things are hard to predict. Martel seems like she likes highbrow stuff. When she was in Cannes jury, her favourite film was Colossal Youth by Costa.

>Meme arthouse movie wins
Well then

It's a film festival, i guess Avengers won't win unfortunately.

>Ad Astra that low
I don't follow this festivals stuff. Does it mean it's going to be shit or that it's going to be too Hollywood-y?

Not really. The film is divisive, seems like American critics liked it so far, which is surprising since Gray's films are usually liked more by European critics. They basically kept his career going for a while. From what i have read the film is not really Hollywood blockbuster but it's also not entirely successful at what it tries to do.

BvS is better than any of these arthouse pretentious socialist garbage yuromuslims call "movies"

>It's a film festival, i guess Avengers won't win unfortunately.
Joker has a chance of winning bro

Wrong
I would be really surprised if that won anything. I think it has a shot at best actor but otherwise nothing.

>2 highest rated movies are a meme comic book movie and a film made by a pedophile
>lowest rated movie is a holocaust flick
what did Italians mean by this?

What did you expect from a socialist hellhole

Polanski should win just for the shitshow it would create

But the socialist scum btfo the hollyjew plebs who are mad about Joker coming out and wanted to push another 6 GORILLION movie, how am I supposed to feel?

>Polanski, Joker, Johnny Depp and The Painted Bird win
TRIGGERED

The book/film is not really about that, it's more about human cruelty. The director even said that the book is a complete fiction and the author who claimed it was an autobiography was a liar. The author was helped by the villagers. The director just wanted to make a film about darkness and humanity. I doubt he focused too much on muh holocaust.
If Polanski and Joker win anything the American journalists and feminists will be really triggered.

>ad astra

It's strange. European critics like Gray usually.

it really doesn't
