the exorcist

unironically Vampires

The Thing if you're a Reddit virgin, Halloween if you're a based chad.

That movie was all set to be schlocky action kino and then the studio halved his budget a day before principal photography began. This is why every scene that should be a big action scene is just a series of dissolves of action being implied off camera. It really fucked the movie over.

Mouth of Madness.

Halloween is for creepy incels though, except the third one which is kino

Big Trouble in Little China

Escape from LA

That was such a strange place to take an Escape from NY sequel

The movie goes from a 10/10 to an 8/10 once they reach Hobb's End for me, and it doesn't pick up the slack until the Julie Carmen character leaves the movie

Top Five:
The Thing
Prince of Darkness
They Live
Assault on Precinct 13
Ghosts of Mars

Why did he stop making films, bros? His last movie was almost 20 years ago, but he's still kicking.

This all the way

So, Village of the Damned?

I unironically like Escape from Los Angeles, the whole movie feels like Carpenter and Russell making fun of action movies, like Schwarzenegger's Last Action Hero.
Shame he didn't do a third movie.

>no one mentioned Body Bags

Big Trouble in Little China

if you're a 9 year old boy

I really wanted to like it because the concept was cool
First segment is just a boring slasher
Second segment is carried by Keach but is not really funny or interestingly directed, it really feels like a low tier tales of the crypt episode
Third segment is really poor, despite having the best premise, was better executed in the Simpsons tree house parody
Morgue gags also all fall flat, just an unfunny copy of the crypt keeper
Easy to see why the network didn't pick it up to turn into a show

He made at least one masters of horror episode in the early 2000s.

...

The theme to this is so good, one of my favorite Carpenter compositions
I recently watched Carpenter's Master of Horror episode "Cigarette Burns" after hearing a lot of positive buzz around it, and I was really disappointed. His directing was stellar, great looking short film, but I feel like showing the Angel too early to basically no reaction from the protagonist was a really awful choice. Not only does it eliminate the mystery, but it ruins the lovecraftian horror angle I feel like it was going for.

2, Cigarette Burns and Pro-life. Cigarette Burns is the least shit Master's of Horror Gets, and Pro-life is about as shit most other Masters of Horror episodes.

That's a pretty good poster by Brenton. I love it when known comic artists do fan movie posters.

a lot of those master of horror episodes have great concepts but i feel like they are so poorly done that it just turned into a waste of everybody's time
lots of wasted potential

has anyone here seen his films on the big screen?
i would love to see a screening of the thing, assault on precinct 13, in the mouth of madness and big trouble in little china

That's what you get when you get a bunch of nobody's to write script's for horror's greatest directors, a bunch of polished turds

I saw an original print of The Thing at a local indie cinema. It was gorgeous.

just saw Big Trouble on a throwback classics day at the theater. It was me, 3 dudebros who were crying laughing, and this autistic guy who kept talking to himself. Had a great time

I think he got tired of being fucked over by Hollywood.

I'm not sure about your list here, It seems to be missing Escape from NY
