IT Chapter 2

It was kind of bad

I didn't go into the first one expecting anything more than "better use of money than the TV series."

Not going into this one expecting any more or less.

I look at it the same way I look at King's books, just a reliable way to kill a few hours without anyone expecting anything more from the other than an occasionally interesting idea playing out somewhere. There's a time and a place and a mood for all things in the entertainment world, cinematic excellence isn't likely to come out of a book adaptation.

The best parts were the adults together being losers but that was like 20 mins of the 3hrs

The best scenes were the clubhouse and Richie's breakdown

Just gonna assume this is actually good, thanks to all the whining anti-shills overblowing their load all day on here.

You're kind of bad.

Reminder to read the book

Why did they make Richie a faggot
I don't get it

It wasn’t, it was really fucking bad

It's literally OK. The problem is all the child flashbacks remind you part one was a movie with an actual plot (not a long fetch quest)

Thats homophobic

>kind of

T. Zoomie who can't sit still for 3 hrs unless it's capeshit.

Its not like I was expecting a cinematic masterpiece, but the movie loses a lot of time on repeating what we already saw on the first and none of the characters have any actual development as adults except for Richie
already did, which is why I expected more from the movie
I agree, they should have used more time with the adults being together instead of sending them on fetch quests

this is pretty much the horror equivalent of capeshit

He got typcast’d

Attached: BC019195-6FA4-465D-A077-39A675C1FCB0.jpg (726x1758, 325K)

The first one has the same plot as this one tho

I laughed when Pennywise got literally bullied to dead.

>mainstream horror
>3 hours long
unacceptable. the IDEAL length for horror is around 1h45m, anything more than that is a fucking chore

This is not just your gay slasher movie that can be wrapped up like that. This is an EPIC about cosmic horror.

At least we got one good arc out of seven characters
It’s not completely terrible

Attached: image 2.jpg (625x415, 61K)

the book has enough content to make two 3 hours movies and even more, but its wasted on separating the characters so we can watch deleted scenes from the first movie and parts from the trailer

The Bev/Ben parts make me sad in an intense way.

Haven’t watched either IT movies, how do they compare to the TV show?

The first 20% of the book is all kids doing shit while an occasional phone call is made to reunite them as adults.

Seem familiar?

>but its wasted on separating the characters
It’s exactly like that in the book too, and I don’t think those are deleted scenes from the first movie

If you watched the TV show recently the movies kick the show's ass.

If you still have nostalgia goggles on about the show... go watch it again and cure yourself.

Reminder that the audiobook is over 44 hours. There was no way they could do it perfect.

I don’t care about its relation to the book. Most people seem to consider it King’s best book anyway. On its own the movie is a complete mess and a wasted opportunity to be unique and ambitious

This kid just elevates everything he’s in

Stole the movie, my boy mcavoy had the main role and I didn't give two shits about him

>best book
That's The Stand

Just like the book.

Honestly if there was a 3rd setpiece that they could have dressed up as a climax this would for sure be 3 movies 2-2.5 each. I think the director said this movie had about 5 hrs worth of material written.

Do they consider it his best? I know people like it but every time I hear people saying "best" it's usually "The Stand."

I'd call "The Stand" his best and "Doctor Sleep" my favorite. I think I am a little too young for most of "It" to hit me too hard. The references and flashbacks and shit are for people past 45.

I’ll be the one to chip in and say IT is his masterpiece.

Is Doctor Sleep actually good? I really hate the idea of a sequel to The Shining

"MY LIFE FOR YOOOOOOU!"

He has said he wants to go back and film even more scenes for the supercut of both films if the studio will let him.

The Shining is DEEP background. It barely comes up at all. It's more generally focused on people with The Shine and a particular group of people who feed on their abilities.

It's legit.

I wouldn’t mind 2 more hours or reddie content

>working it chapter 2 last night
>walk into face hugger scene
>oh hey that's new!
>30 minutes later
>pissed off customer tells me "that movie was fucking terrible"
>start talking with him about it cause got nothing else to do for another 10 minutes
>find out head crab is the new version of the spider
>they talk the thing down apparently
Fucking gay

I hope he adds the Turtle and Patrick Hocksetter’s creepy backstory.

Revival would have been a great book if it was half as long.

Chat me up. What happened between the two?

There is an actual huge spider as the finally but yeah they bully it to death. It kind of works stand alone

>they talk the thing down apparently
they basically bully him to death

He’s a fucking competent retard. The whole problem with Chapter 2 is that it was too long, too similar to the first one and has like an hour of runtime that’s almost completely pointless, and yet the director somehow thinks it’s a good idea to make it all a 6 hour movie? Does he even know what the hell he’s doing?

Why does part two always suck? The first movie was good but just like the tv show part two sucks. Way too much humor for a horror movie completely ruined any tension. Part one had a much better atmosphere like they actually took It serious and it felt like an actual horror movie. Part two felt like a drama comedy with jump scares

Because all he did was some on & off American accent, stutter, and go "muh georgie" every 2 minutes
Finn Wolfhard is already a pretty based kid so his comedy in the first movie was a treat, and Bill Hader is based too and can adlib like a pro and bounce off the other actors easily
I think Ritchie and Eddie honestly stole both movies

Penny wise the giant spider having his mouth wide open flashing the dead lights to Richie was an awesome scene. It just looked so bizarre

Lmao what the fuck, ill have to use my pass for it sometime

You're all wrong because it's The Dark Tower series, Wizard and Glass in particular
Don't (You) me

How has IT been around for so long when it got easily ganked by a handful of school children then ganked again by those same kids 20 years later?

Because people spend two years duct taping nostalgia goggles to their heads and hyping up the next bit in their imagination.

Hey Reddit

Two and a half books is as far as I could go there. It was just... boring. I lost interest near the end of the second but kept trying and just couldn't.

It probably has been temporary killed before but to finish it for good you essentially need the gank it twice as a team and do the ritual

Been here since 08, but you keep up with that obsession

Its confirmed in another King book that IT's sill alive though and they didnt do shit to it

This time the kids had sex something the other people before had never thought of

>Patrick Hocksetter’s creepy backstory.
No chance in hell. About as likely as the gangbang or what happens to Eddie Corcoran and his brother.

What the fuck is the point then? Fuck King and his shared universe horseshit

So no giant Turtle?

>08
newfag

Well it is an embodiment of an entire universe so... yeah... even without confirmation theres no way a group of adults are killing a literal god by believing really hard.

The problem is that the adult part just isn't as interesting in the book itself. The kid part is something that can be (mostly) easily adapted into film and turn it into a horror themed goonies like the first movie kind of did, but the adult part is mostly them mendearing around, talking about their lives and then confronting IT, which mostly entails just trying to keep their sanity.
The book works better because it combines the adult part with the kid's one, making them reach the same climax altogether, but that's impossible to translate into film.

Isn't IT like a son/daughter of the Crimson King or some shit like that? Some runt it would be, to be killed off that easily

The tv series was pure kino and cant be topped

Look... someone else who hasn't watched the thing they love since their testes first dropped.

>making them reach the same climax altogether, but that's impossible to translate into film.

Cloud Atlas managed to do it with 6 stories semi intelligently

Model the movie off that but with a good writer/director. Contrive a setpiece to climax the first movie and film it like the book

He had no arc in the first one while the others (except Mike and Stan) did. That's why it seems impressive now.

Why? Those fuckers got a good end. Richie and Eddie deserved better.

Attached: 1567758406409.png (640x360, 211K)

So IT was just fucking with us again?

Yeah... that's already on standby. If the opening tops the first movie they are sending the director in with the editor to make one long movie that intertwines them both, making it more like the books.

So don't lose hope yet.

Source cause that seems kinda awesome.

This. Everyone keeps saying that it’s “impossible” but it’s not. Just hire an actual good director and don’t design the movie to be casual blockbuster shit. There are countless horror movies about eldritch horror, surrealism, imagery beyond comprehension, comic terror, etc. They could make one with It, they just don’t want to and don’t care to

IT is a powerful entity working with the evil side in ultimate goal of toppling the dark tower, but in power level terms hes a complete bitch compared to the crimson king

Just came back from a theater, pretty fun watch. People were laughing their heads off at almost every scary part. Also Bill Hader a qt

Every single scene with Beverly turned me on.

Especially the one with Ben in the classroom.

It was good. Not great. I think the first one was better, but for some reason, It 2 really hit me hard, emotionally.

I connected a little too much with Richie's character.

Had a group of teenagers giggling at literally fucking everything

A true fan knows where the hammock scene comes from

Bet you’re into humiliation porn

What's this guy's deal? He seems super gay and creepy in these interviews I'm watching. I gotta give him credit though for being able to grow more facial hair than me.

Attached: Screen Shot 2019-09-06 at 4.49.40 PM.png (1074x928, 977K)

I have a slime/ginger fetish and I was diamonds for the Bathroom Stall scene

Isn’t everyone sick of all these Stephen King adaptations yet? The past three years alone we’ve had IT, IT 2, The Dark Tower, Gerald’s Game, 1922, Pet Semetary, The Mist, Mr Mercedes, and Castle Rock, we’ve got In the Tall Grass and Doctor Sleep coming later this year, and there are at least half a dozen more in some stage of production.

>That shot-for-shot reference to John Carpenter's The Thing

The movie had me smiling through out the entire thing. Loved it.

Attached: 1556688015621.gif (300x250, 56K)

I'm actually not, that's what's so fucked about it.

But that scene? Man, I'm telling you, what if that wasn't Pennywise? What if that was just something they did together? Beverly just tormenting Ben in private and in secret and away from the rest of the group. A secret within a secret. Something private within something private.

A desire you can't talk about.

A yearning, unfulfilled.

Fuck, someone remind me of the precise lines. I can't wait till this movie is out on digital release.

Even the older Beverly was good.

How the fuck does he have folds like that at such a young age. It’s so uncanny. Some people were just meant to age like shit

His adult version looked so damn familiar and it finally hit me that it was ray from generation kill

I was dissapointed

Did they release real balloons during the movie at anybody else's theater? Someone kept shouting "grab it" and so I ran up and got one, but then as soon as I told somebody, another one got released. It elevated the atmosphere for a while but it sort of got annoying once the second one hit.

Which book?

I'm never gonna watch this movie, what was the shot?

No but I saw it in a 4dx theater and they fucked with us the entire trailer section including an extended water spray.

This sounds miserable, why is your cinema torturing it’s audience?

Gay jew kid who got molested by his uncle’s friends

Thought that was one of his weaker efforts

Severe ADHD

>Kid Stanley's dead body in the fridge on Neilbolt Street. His head comes rolling off and stops to talk to the adult Loser's Club before sprouting spider legs out of the sides of his skull, eyes and shit.

>Adult Richie even says 'You gotta be fucking kidding me.'

Isn’t it part of being a horror fan is to be fucked with. It comes with the package.

Sounds neet, might catch a singles showtime
Is Skaarsgard still great?

I think I saw the guy who was responsible when I came out to use the bathroom and came out again to report the first balloon. Just from glimpses of his face and voice he seemed mentally deficient so I didn't report him at the end of the film, but I was kind of upset. The shadow of the balloon was fully apparent, and I didn't really know what was going on at first, so I didn't know if this was going to go south or what.

Yeah, still spooky as fuck. Has a couple good child-kill scenes too. Even a scene without his make-up.

4dx is pretty fun especially for horror/action that you don't care about. I am already a Regal unlimited member so it's only $6 more and I don't mind paying it on occasion.

Most importantly cause it's expensive people are almost always respectful

The source is me. And don't worry, there will be plenty more talk of it after this weekend.

Whys has this zoomer gone for the sleazy 1950s Italian pimp look?

Is the smoke hole part in the movie?

I watched it again in anticipation of the first it movie, and I still think the TV version was better, it nailed so many aspects of what being a kid was, like them making the damn for no reason at all, the movie kids just talked like adults and didn't do many kid things, also the portrayal of it was more nuanced, his design was disarming and tim curry matched the makeup so well, playful and charming, you could actually be fooled by his version of it if you were a kid, but the new it design doesn't make sense, you would have to be a retard to trust the bill skarsgaard version, he looks like something from your nightmares on his look alone.

Attached: CpfWXxcWEAA7yVE.jpg (1200x857, 122K)

Looks like a chinese Mexican with FAS to me

He’s awesome. He seems like such a soft spoken shy guy in interviews and goes the fuck out in this movie.

It's an ultimately happy arc, but it just reminds me of what all I've missed and what I'll never have.

Bill Hader made me cry... The guy from generation kill (Eddie?) was great. Jessica Chastain is insanely hot. I'd kill my family to be her husband.

The music completely ruined the mood, like in the first. It might be the worst soundtrack of all time. I fucking hated it. Any time there was a hint of tension of creepiness... BRRRAAAANNGGG

The TV series was complete shit bro. Curry was great but Skarsguard IT is way more accurate to the book IT. Everything else about the Tv series is pure cheese and has aged like a turd baking in the sun

That kid has been smoking cigarettes and pot, that probably contributes to his aged look. There’s a pretty funny video of the IT cast ( I think it was Finn) telling him to stop smoking when he was on camera

Yfw finn is such a massive fag it bleeds into his acting career

Attached: 1543991416151.gif (260x345, 3.66M)

why does
>muh book accuracy
matter when they ruined everything else?

that reunion scene hit me harder than I thought and I don't know why

Attached: 0002.jpg (1920x1080, 196K)

>he looks like something from your nightmares on his look alone
But that’s the point? Pennywise was never supposed to be “playful and charming” and lure kids in, he was supposed to be scary from the get go.

>patrick being a psychopathic faggot
You have a better chance of getting the gang bang

I found the video
youtu.be/dCHOIglR_WA

Is it just me or did the second movie weirdly try to reference the book as though the first movie did many a time?
>Beep beep Ritchie suddenly used a lot after being a one off line in the first one
>Ritchie suddenly getting called Trashmouth a lot as though they always did that
>Ben's fear of the mummy, which felt random since we were given 0 clue he'd seen the movie in the first movie, is suddenly referenced again as though he's always been afraid of mummies
>half-assed Bob Gray cameo
>half-assed IT's origin (no turtle)
>half-assed ritual of chud

Cute

One thing I noticed is that any scene that was in both the mini-series and the movie, the former tended to do it better. The sewer, blood in the bathroom, standing up to the bullies and final encoutner just worked more in the original.

Beep Beep Richie and Trashmouth, without the context of the book, doesn't really need to be explained in the movie. Richie is a fucking motor mouth who won't shut the fuck up.

i thought the first 30-45 minutes were good. The stars/jigsaw transition was great.
It felt like a different director took over at some point and everything just started getting drawn out. Its like it didnt even try to learn from the mistakes of the original.

Attached: 1519119254316.png (779x767, 231K)

token fags are the new token blacks

Hands down best scene is when Richie kills the old greaser dude and tries to joke his way out of feeling what just happened and you can just barely make out the word "nope" as he realizes its not going to work and he starts vomiting.

Yeah but it wasn't so much that it needed explaining, more that it pretended it was a running joke since the first movie and not just some thing they'd suddenly started referring to repeatedly

He's got nice legs though.

Attached: 8878f39a-35c4-4933-9692-26587265dfd0.jpg (640x254, 37K)

no matter how successful you are, no matter how many sit-ups you do, you'll always be that fat kid, afraid of dying alone
This hit too close to home, and I don't even have a Beverly,

Nah, the best scene is when Henry attacks Eddie.

The scene with Richie in the arcade was also great. Pretty much all the Richie scenes are good both young and adult version

>the book has Henry go after Eddie and call him a fag
>movie gives all that to Richie

I don't get it, Eddie is easily the gayest Loser in the book and obviously struggles with sexuality issues, why remove all that and give it to Richie?

Could they not think of a better way to de-age Wolfhard than using a snapchat filter?

Maybe that’s because both Hader and Wolfhard are good at portraying sexually insecure character who hide their sexuality with humours

They didn’t want to be accused of ripping off The Neverending Story.

Attached: 6E33E8E9-0A79-4D21-8DCF-2E655F880490.jpg (666x360, 45K)

I didn’t think it was noticeable. He looks the same way he did in the first movie

Just got back from it. Was decent enough, Chastain was rubbish though.

No, it's because they'd get extreme backlash for killing off two gay characters in one movie, the "bury your gays" trope always causes massive triggering. Making Richie the gay one is the safer route.

Attached: 1567757603792.png (640x360, 311K)

They pretty much all but forgot about Derry when they left. Coming back slowly started piecing memories together. Beep Beep Richie and Trashmouth just so happened to be one of the groups In-jokes.

Also, I think they elude to calling Richie Trashmouth on stage as well. I think he works it into his act.

that response has absolutely nothing to do with what you replied to

>Pennywise is homoslayer
is he /ourguy/?

No he isn't, take georgie for instance, the movie version doesn't look good at all, a talking clown from a sewer and he looks dead, I'd run before even hearing him speak, but tim curry version plays it up, he doesn't look scary, doesn't talk scary, he played into the imagination of georgie
>huh, there must really be cotton candy and rides down there, this clown ain't so bad
Especially the girl at the beginning of the it tv show, it is playful and inviting at first, he catches her interest, she has to know what he is up to, if it were movie it, she would scream to her mom because retard skarsgaard would be breathing heavy, not blinking with his crooked eyes and sharp teeth, he isn't subtle.
>pic related
Isn't someone kids could be fooled by, so in that aspect, where is the surprise? Where is the horror when you don't expect it? The kids are our proxy, we are supposed to feel what they feel, and when they act like retards, trusting something that looks like that, what do you think the film makers are saying about us?

Attached: h6az92wpy5o01.jpg (1242x1242, 101K)

cute

Attached: EDywKHvXYAAP3Cc.jpg (290x378, 17K)

They brought up Henry attacking Richie and Richie killing him. In the book, that's Eddie's role.

They're already getting backlash for portraying a homophobic murder in the beginning of the film. This is truly Clown World retardation.

I noticed HL2 reference in the same scene, when stanley's head hides in the rafters he looks exactly like headcrab, even has the same slime hanging down. Could be just a generic "monster above you" scene though

Chastain felt like she wasn't even trying

he also says nigger a couple of time in the books

Hello Grace.

When Bill was shouting "why him why him why him" that was some good acting

Those people are only talking about the first 50% of The Stand. Once they all get to Boulder/Vegas, the story takes a MASSIVE nose dive

Gotta fully disagree on that one. Comfy town life with underlying threat, Vegas bride and spy shenanigans, and Trashys scavenger hunt was great.

This was the best part of the entire novel

Attached: IMAG2599.jpg (3024x4032, 3.03M)

It was fucking shit compared to both Chapter 1 and the Adult part of 1990 adaption

He looks like a marshmallow

Man one day I want to read IT but I just have too many books on my list
