I do not enjoy Mauler because I actually have things to do. When I sit down to listen to something for several hours, it better be readings from Will Durant or a Yale lecture about my academic subject. Perhaps a docukino on Robert McNamara, or how Iaccoca saved Chrysler. Plinkett was smart in making his Last Jedi video roughly an hour- Mike's longest review was never longer than two. Mauler's pedantic, obsessive dialogue in his heady, petty, never-changing smug cadence and inflections makes his reviews the audio equivalent of listening to your suicidal-depressed uncle at a family event.

I remember he spent a good bit of time criticizing the “It has themes” bit TLJ defenders use and I think the takeaway was “it doesn’t, you’re just making up patterns with over-broad concepts.” But running through a movie line-by-line is a shit way to criticize any overarching elements like themes. That should be done in a separate section at the end but I guess that’ll only freak out the people who can’t handle anything longer than a sound bite even more.

I like Lindsey, I really do, but her Dany bias was really showing throughout her videos. She's quick to say how John isn't deserving of the throne by downplaying his accomplishments but never wants to talk about Daenerys's faults and why she wouldn't be perfect for the throne either.

Very wrong. Listened to his entire dark souls 2 beat down on haych bomber guy and I would argue that 99% of his arguments case from an objective “does it work or not” perspective.
