Nynaeve would actually have worked pretty well as a spicy Latina since Rand would stick out in a village of Hispanics but still be believable as one of them e.g. Canelo Álvarez. That might even have made the show a hit in those markets if they used popular Mexican or Brazilian actors. What they did making them some of them white, some black and one an abbo makes no sense in the context of the story and shows they care more about being woke than making a faithful adaptation or even a commercially successful product.
