Prequel to the old show with the same atmosphere and quality, with improvements on story/worldbuilding. 10/10 visuals, music and voice acting. The puppets dont have much facial expression but thats the point, you get used to it. Most soulful show Ive seen in a while, feels like it was made in a different era. Also I want to lick the essence from Deet’s grot.

They were amazing for their time, but it's dated and puppets are even more dated.
Give me gorgeously rendered CGI I can lose myself in over janky puppets and poor effects for the sake of old style feeling.
Keep the designs close to the original, update the medium to modern standards and effects.

But she did have a choice. She specifically asked what she could do to stop the Darkening and the tree told her it couldn't be stopped, just transferred. And she was more than willing to do whatever it took to stop it.
The whole point is that they never actually needed essence to stay alive, they just wanted the extra assurance because the rest of the Skeksis are lazy fucks. Meanwhile the Heretic and Hunter are living their best lives because they're not sitting on their ass all the time.
