One of the most left wing, MCU loving people I know agrees with me this movie is tremendously racist for a plethora of reasons against a plethora of races. Kind of refreshing.

Wakandan culture is literally just a complete mish-mash of African culture viewed through the eyes of rich (((white))) people.

The MCU is full of conservative subtext. Which is why I imagine it's kinda of a "turn your brain off" thing for most people who are closer to the political left and still enjoy them. I like them just fine as entertainment but I find it extremely hard to watch them without having to roll my eyes at their depiction of the American Military, or the US Army, or the CIA or characters like Tony Stark who pretty much embodies idealised American capitalism.

I can still enjoy movies that don't agree with me politically just fine, but stuff like the only sympathetic white main character in Black Panther being a CIA agent or Captain Marvel constantly stopping in its tracks to slobber all over the US Air force just make me groan. And recently I found out that the German dub of Black Panther actually translated the battle cry "Wakanda Forever" with "Wakanda Über Alles". At least have some subtlety, for god's sake

You say this like they had a choice. Pre-colonial Subsaharan africa quite literally had no other culture than slight modifications the sort of stone-age tribal shit that wakanda apes. More so, not only did their cultures basically stagnate at the tribal stage for at least 4000 years, contemporary black african culture is just the traditional tribal elements mixed in with bits and pieces of unmodified western and islamic influences. There's no reference point for afro-futurist culture that embraces modernity and civilty, because sub-Saharans have never had a non-tribal culture and probably never will, and anything modern about their culture is immediately identifiable as middle eastern or european, breaking the illusion for normies.
