she is highly regarded, still taught in liberal film classes, but she only made two historically relevant films and one of them is 100% Nazi hagiography

>what was her magnum opus?

«OLYMPIA».

>why isn't she regarded more highly despite revolutionizing film?

SHE WAS A NATIONAL SOCIALIST IN THE THIRD REICH; WE LIVE IN A ZIONIST WORLD.

>despite revolutionizing film?
WHAT. DID. SHE. DO.

I HEAR THIS ALL THE FUCKING TIME. WHAT DID SHE DO THAT WAS "REVOLUTIONARY" BESIDES HAVE A LARGE BUDGET.

Fucking zoomer idiot.
If you're filming a real life event that involves huge numbers of people, then chances are you're subconsciously framing your shots in the same way that she did because you watched other documentaries that used the same exact techniques.

Do you get it now?
She created the visual language on how to film these kind of massive scale events, especially if the purpose is to make it seem larger-than-life.

Correlation =/= Causation

>no one is influenced by anything we're all proud individualists existing in our own little vacuums

Shoo shoo, zoomie.

Are you retarded?

I could tell him about how influential Akira Kurosawa and Sergio Leone were to hollywood, and he would probably say the same exact thing..

I don't know shit about this. But if she was indeed the first one to do it, then she did indeed revolutionize film.

>Akira Kurosawa
he was influenced by John Ford

>despite revolutionizing film
lmao, she used some techniques in her films that were considered novel for the time, but the rest she just borrowed from other films from german and soviet cinemas
For example, Battleship Potemkin was a propaganda soviet film from 1925, and it was far more revolutionary (and better in any other aspect really) than any work of Riefenstahl

>novel for the time
>wrote the book on how films would be made for the next 80 years

blacked

>wrote the book on how films would be made for the next 80 years
What?

>Sergio Leone
>influential to hollywood
virtually every second of his westerns were ripped from older american ones

>She created the visual language on how to film these kind of massive scale events
uuuhhhhh

You’re proving his point that pic looks so fucking staged. But I get it kike lovers think life is about appropriating good values rather than playing them out and showing raw beauty.

>that pic looks so fucking staged
I know right? compare to pic related. spontaneous, uncalculated, inorganized. fuck that kike(gentile) griffith, I love roastie riefenstahl!

She was a Nazi and her biggest achievement was a highly political propaganda piece. That makes her similarly problematic as Albert Speer, and she didn't have the same redemption arc from an American perspective as the Nazi scientists and rocket weapon specialists like Von Braun, who brought the U.S. to the moon after having created the weapons that wreaked havoc in London.

>WHAT. DID. SHE. DO.
Be a woman.

hacks like Griffith and DeMille made totally fake-looking, staged crowd movement. Looks so FAKE and precalculated unlike Riefenstahl's straight lines of uniform people.

look at any sporting event coverage on television and you can see those exact same techniques used in Olympia

What? She's quite rated, the problem is that she should have moved to the USA when she heard about the Holocaust, like lot of German directors and actors did

Her best movie is Triumph of the Will

>gets called out on his bullshit
>immediately accuses one of being a kike
wonder if you'd defend the merit of her work with such zeal if she wasn't making propaganda nazi films? Methinks not
>comapring feature films with state-funded propaganda
brainlet

Such as?

>implying Hollywood and the British film industry didn't do propaganda films paid by their governments during WW2
Soviets also did it, the difference is that Nazi and Soviet propaganda films were better than western ones

John Ford is one of the GOAT directors and he also did propaganda movies

Did Griffith and DeMille make propagnda films? No? So there's no comparison
>the difference is that Nazi and Soviet propaganda films were better than western ones
And that's why no one remembers any noteworthy propaganda nazi film save for triumph of the will, which didn't even have a plot, unlike soviet propagana films btw. But you probably think jude suss and die rothschilds are masterpieces

>why isn't she regarded more highly
The fuck are you talking about? She is one of the most famous filmmakers of all time.
This is just a dumb /pol/ bait thread.

*Meant state-funded propagnda films

Not the guy you quoted, I think Griffith is the real inventor of cinematic language and he's a top 10 of all times

Just saying making propaganda films isn't bad per se

>Did Griffith and DeMille make propagnda films? No?
stop posting

See

What was her talent? Go-Kart racing? Because all I see in your pic is men doing all the heavy lifting as usual.

You fucking moron

And then subsequent american directors watched his movies and incorporated what they learned from his movies into theirs.
Deal with it, burgermutt.

All of it you stupid nigger, the entire concept of shooting a mega-event like that was invented by her, it did not exist prior to her. I don't give a shit what stupid fucking nonsense left wing religion you worship, Leni Reifenstahl was not just "novel", nobody at that time thought she was just "novel", nobody now thinks she was just "novel". You sound like a retard when you spew mouth sewage like that.

Misogyny. Only literally Hitler could understand how women could contribute to kino

Fucking hate zoomers, user.
All they do is facetiously ask questions, take pride in ignorance, and refuse to read or learn new material.

>the entire concept of shooting a mega-event like that was invented by her
It wasn't tho, Berlin wasn't the first filmed Olympic games
youtube.com/watch?v=vtmAxZpNdrk

>all these idiots itt thinking that pointing a camera at the event is what made Leni groundbreaking
>meanwhile they hail Zack Snyder as the second coming of Christ
She was probably the first filmmaker to film slow motion close ups of athletes and generally instill a sense of heroism in her shots in favour of merely documenting what was happening. That had been around for as long as film could capture enough detail to make sports footage viable. It's how she infused actual artistic vision and her sense of aesthetics into the documenting of the events that has been universally lauded. It was informed highly by the Nazi vision of the Ubermensch and neoclassicism, and yet the basic idea that even if you don't orchestrate something, the way you film it can shape its vision of it has been most influential for any kind of non-fiction cinematography.

>Rational thought on Yea Forums
Leave before it's too late

I can't tell if this gif is meant to be fucking awful, but I can still see some titties, so hell yeah.

Yes this is clearly the equivalent of Triumph of the Will, my mistake

>Ubermensch
stop throwing words you don't understand
