I always thought it would be weird, but started doing it a few years ago. Whenever a movie comes out that I know my friends wouldn't be interested in going, I usually go to the first showing of the day. It's pretty chill being able to go straight to the movies right when you wake up and not have to worry about making sure other people are also ready.

On opening nights I see way more people alone. I also go to the science museum for movies, because it has a real IMAX and the quality of movie goers seems to be way better. Older crowd, more polite, no talkers. Loners aren't that rare anymore.
