Comic is shit. It's a mean spirited, denunciation of Superheroes by an edgelord and, like so many other "DAE Hate Superheroes" pieces, it relies on making the superheroes what amount to supervillians and, by an ironic extension, the anti-superhero protagonists the superhero.

show is better. certain things in the comic just don't make sense (i.e. the boys all taking compound v and having powers), and the show's focus on the seven and the better characters in general make for a far better story.

It depends on some aspects. For example, we don't know how Homelander's son plot will evolve because it's a completely original thing, there's nothing to compare it to.

But some aspects that are taken from the comic are done much worse, like Stillwell, it's impossible to even compare it to the comic because show's version is just that bad and completely and utterly missed the mark without compensating for it.

Aside from that, the comic wins in every way. It doesn't pussy out on the controversy, it doesn't get mired in stupid romance subplots and it doesn't waste time on Seth Rogen's fedorah-tipping.
Instead, we get loads of brutal comeuppance for various supes, which would have been immensely satisfying on tv.

Black Noir is an insane clone of Homelander that exists only to kill the original if he steps out of line. He spends time framing Homelander for shit and getting caught on tape doing it all and Homelander is so stupid he doesn't remember exactly what he is or isn't responsible for. Who knows whether they take this angle in the show.

I’m up to issue 17 of the comics and it has was too much dialogue and satire to be take seriously. Its a combination of a Hustler comic strip and MAD magazine. The series is much better.

DC cancelled it early on because it was so shit. I can't even seriously write that it gets much better when they go outside of the satire, but by the end of the train wreck, they somehow manage to gasp out a half decent "corporations are bad" message. The comic's version of Stillwell was pretty great, too. Butcher isn't half bad either if you read his backstory and then realize he's a parody of all those tough anti-hero types like Hitman and the Punisher so of course he'll be the final fucking boss.
