Platoon is probably the most kino Vietnam flick

Apocalypse now, FMJ, and Deer Hunter are kino but not really about the war itself

TRL is a WW2 movie, friend

Uncommon Valor

Hamburger Hill
We Were Soldiers
Platoon

Unironically Danger Close: The Battle for Long Tan. It is the most historically accurate war film. Literally everything else is historical fiction, platoon, deer hunter, apocalypse now, etc.
It was accurate down to down to bullet impacts on the soldiers, for example, Lt Gordon Sharp is shown getting shot in the throat, this is exactly what happened, as was recorded by Bob Buick, (the Sgt who was beside him) in his book 'All guts and no Glory'.

I was concerned that nobody had posted Hamburger Hill yet.

Full Metal Jacket is the best Vietnam movie made. Some plebs dislike the second half because it isn't as overtly comfy as the first, but they fail to see the subtle comfiness of the second half.

Pops was a grunt in Vietnam and said Hamburger Hill and We were soldiers are the most accurate films. For what it’s worth.

Weird, I thought the second half is when it becomes comfy to begin with.

Thats my point. The stuff with the drill sgt is great, but it too often overshadows the comfyness of the second half in the minds of plebs

Alright bro

The second half of FMJ is the most honest portrayal of war ever presented in cinema.

Jesus user. Read a damn book some time.

nominally it was about Korea, but given when it was made and the themes it addressed, the TV show was definitely ABOUT Vietnam
