I know this is a long shot but can someone just explain this meme to me? Should he have raised instead of checked?

>eyes roll out jaw drops hamana hamana hamana AWOOOOGA *ahem* *adjusts tie* "I check."
I thought he was an actor?

Sneed rhymes on Seed and Feed but if you rhyme Ch-uck with S and F it says two dirty words

he should have raised, it was obvious as soon as said check that he was bluffing

watch?v=4yWaSfGosbQ&t=43

its not about the check or raise.
he literally leans back off the table... which its quite that tell that he has the best hand..

no he should of fucked instead of sucked.

As a pro poker player I really appreciate this meme

I reckon... All in

Get a real job goober

But why? I do well

matt damon check

>not wanting to be able to play a thrilling game of chance for a living
>not wanting to live a life of easy thrills like you're D'Arby
Pretty beta move

Go to bed doug polk

Based damon

Formerly raise

SCOTTY DOESN'T KNOW
THAT WILSON AND MECS
HAVE BOTH TWO ACES IN THEIR POCKET

He was fucked no matter what. Armchair poker billionaires will meme that he made a stupid move here on Yea Forums. Everything they suggest as an alternative would likely meet the same response. His opponents had nothing.
His ability to hide emotion and not show a tell is very questionable, which for a famous actor is amusing.

That's about everything covered.

Matt, who played a professional poker player quite well in Rounders, plays this hand about as poorly as you can. He flops the absolute nuts (the best possible hand) and nearly flies out of his seat, he's so excited. The other players read him like a book, and all check or drop out. At this point, he keeps checking instead of raising the pot, even when it's the river and he has nothing at all to lose. If he raised even a little, he might have taken more chips in, but he checks all the way to the end, totally wasting his awesome hand. In basically no universe was this the right play. When he reveals his hand the other players basically laugh at him.

>which for a famous actor is amusing
He isn't famous for his acting abilities. No one ever said "goddamn that Matt Damon is a fine actor". He got lucky with some roles, was it a good agent, nepotism, blowjobs, luck, I don't know and don't care, and that's what's he's famous for.

YES GOD DAMMIT YES THAT IS RIGHT I DID IT IM NUMBER FIVE ARE YOU KIDDING ME THATS RIGHT WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE I AM

DAMMIT RIGHT

The top comment makes a point kek

Good thing I said famous actor and not great actor.

You equaled famous with great. If you didn't you wouldn't be wondering about his behavior at the table in the first place.

Matt Damon didn't believe the full house existed until he was dealt one

Comments on that video are hilarious.
>he may as well have just flipped his cards over

Is that the guy from titanic?

Cope

The perfect play would have been to go all in on the flop to make it look like a bluff and prevent another player from drawing out on him.

he should have jumped it slammed the table and yelled "THATS THE NUTS MOTHERFUCKERS YEEEHAWWWW" then sat down, straightened his tie, and checked

too strong, you've split your range
a bet is standard here and correct

Any tips for a beginner, pokerbro?

dont play, its not possible to beat the rake
if you're just playing for fun though learn about and always consider range, thats how you get good

If you only bet instead of jam someone could suck out on you so it's a mistake. I got my aces cracked 10 times in a row on pokerstars when I used to just open to a normal size. Now I limp (to trap) then jam when they re-raise me and get their stack every time. On time a guy even called my preflop jam with 1010 lol

Checking here isn't bad. Having 4 people on the turn can get more equity than scaring off people with a raise and going heads up. This not a bad play. His check on the turn wasn't terrible either because it can lull people into raising his check like what happened. His check on the river was dumb and his surprised reaction at the flop was bad. People who meme this are bad at poker.

pokerstars is rigged

If you're playing to make money, play in person not online. People who play live poker on the whole aren't as good as digital poker and people online literally have scripts and bots playing for them. The name of the game nowadays though is a consistent strategy. Study the ranges for hands and boards and play them all consistently, while mixing in bluffs to not make yourself predictable. Stealing pots gets you much further than going heads up all-in on risky boards. Oh and get very familiar with the slang or you'll be lost in pokertalk.

Also Doug Polk has fun youtube content.
