Pretty low budget film about two former baseball players, A pitcher and a catcher (the battery) and a section of their journey together. It's proper indie and if you aren't just interested in shootem ups this is a good choice. Just breaks 90 min.

Now if you are interested in in crazy over the top zombie flicks, Robert Rodriguez's Planet terror is the place to be. Running zombies, massive blood sprays, and Rose McGowan with a machine gun for a leg. Meant to replicate 70's exploitation this is full of ridiculous tropes and extremely over the top moments. Prime example, a character trips and falls into a puddle of testicles.

If you're looking more for "The real monsters were us all along" there of course is the original night of the living dead which you should watch if you haven't. But 28 days later is likely the defacto zombie movie on that exact subject. Where NOTLD is a classic and get caught up a little in racial politics and is honestly slightly boring in the modern lens 28 days completely holds it's own in measures of acting, storytelling, and scares.

Another wonderfully gross gory hacknslash from Pre-LOTR Peter Jackson. This film has a very similar feel to Evill Dead 2, a lot of goofy slapstick humor mixed with some genuinely horrifying imagery. There are also a ton of extremely memorable lines a la "I kick ass for the Lord"

I wouldn't necessarily recommend this to unless you're ok with really gross shit. So basically two teens find a dead body in an abandon asylum. Except it's not dead, and is a woman. Cue spending the next 40 minutes watching these two kids rape a zombie. It's gross and not really in a fun way, but it's also got some kino moments. Might be for you might not.
