I loved Cranston in both Malcolm in the middle and BrBa, but he has sucked ass in every movie I've ever seen him in.

He's just not the type of guy who manages to appear believeable within only 90 minutes of screentime.

Cranston is too old and doesn't have the confidence to pull off a dastardly schemer. Everytime he tried to be 'badass' in BB it came across as forced. It's like watching a beta male try to be tough.

Billy Zane would have been a better Lex than both Cranston and Eisenberg. He even looks identical to TAS version of the character.

See, you missed what makes Luthor who he is. Take Zod in Man of Steel. He only wanted his people to survive, at any cost. Luthor is similar in that he wants humanity to survive and thinks Superman is an alien threat but he envies him and what he can do.

Snyder could have done something interesting if Superman had second thoughts and decided to work for the government, and by extension Luthor if he became President and came to the realization of why the Justice League was needed.

The only man fit to play Luthor is Billy Zane and we all know it. You could just lift the character he played in Titanic, shave his head and he would be perfect. You wouldn't even have to change his character arc
