Something about season 1 made me feel like I was watching something special. It's semi-historical, so it kinda tricks you into thinking you're watching something real, and the psychopaths make you think they're talking about some truth.
But the second season takes that magic away. It just becomes another show of inconsistent characters, dragged out plots, unfinished stories, repetition, etc.

It was good. /pol/ types are sperging about very minor side plot details that don't really go anywhere and don't paint lesbians in a positive light at all. The lesbian relationship ends in disaster so it's not like they're pushing an unrealistically positive and romanticized version of LGBT life. Doesn't even fall apart because of society or the FBI. It's the lesbian's own fault so if anything /pol/ should be celebrating it as a more truthful look at that kind of relationship. But they're spergs with no understanding of how to interpret media.

It kind of sucks. Even the first season. It's about FBI agents interviewing serial killers but they barely interview any and most of the show focuses on them solving hokey fictional murders (none of were done by actual serial killers real or fictional) and their personal drama.

That's the point. The blacks were up in arms demanding a white Klan scapegoat when really it was one of their own the entire time. The investigators had to ignore the prejudices of the black community and the political corruption of black politicians to finally catch the real killer. It showed a much more interesting and complicated view of race relations in Atlanta.

The trailer was showing the conflict between the profiler, who thinks it's a single murderer, and the community, who thinks it's the Klan. It deliberately leaves it ambiguous as to which one is right, though obviously anyone who is familiar with the case already knew the answer.

And I watched the actual season and that was something Holden was arguing against the whole time.

I mean, I don't think the community was being unreasonable in suspecting the Klan. They just weren't right.
