It wasn't as bad as they say. I think it focuses on worldbuilding too much but in terms of production, it's on Mission Impossible level. Unfortunately MI is a well established franchise, so it gets away with pretty much everything now while The Mummy has been panned as an entry.

I remember the cast from that famous picture is given an option to be in other monsters in the future. Fuck A-listers, we don't need Depp or Cruise. What we need are unusual actors that can play these monsters. I legitimately liked it. It's like Lifeforce but doesn't feel as cheap and schlocky. There are also more or less subtle nods to older Universal movies. If it was directed by Tarantino, people would love these references. Also it's much better than CGI bats from Dracula Untold.
