After Y2K doesn't happen George is lamenting his decision and wishing he had his stuff back, Kramer says something along that lines of "gee that's too bad". Final scene of the show is in Kramer's apartment. Kramer is sitting on George's electric recliner watching George's big screen TV, eating popcorn from George's popcorn maker, etc

They were buying inventory by the pallet, if not container load, from liquidators and auctions.

I get the impression they were trying to organise it, but after breaking it down from the pallets, there was too much of it. You start to spread it out like "this will go here, that will go there" etc, and the stuff they did get onto shelves they had just as much left over spilling into the rest of the room and the halls.
