his plan was going to kill everyone with v compound in their system, even people who would never manifest some sort of power (it was like a genetic gamble). that meant the boys and butcher himself would die too. at the beginning of the last arc he literally dismised everyone and sent them away. he was hoping they'd be somewhere else when he activated his device and nobody would know what hit them. but because they were suspicious due to various things (from love sausage being dead to hughie realizing the guy invented V was probably still alive) and they just got in the way of things. the explosion that killed frenchie and female was meant to destroy the building along with all the intel they had there so nobody could find it later, f and f were just there at the wrong time.

It was a retarded plan because a good chunk of the humanity would die, while also not preventing more V compound from being created. It was a petty plan that massacred his friends for no reason. Why the fuck would he kill Vas over that? Because he turned out to be a petty coward at the end. I just wish it would have happened sooner so I wouldn't get attached to the character.

The comic makes no sense in general. For example Homelander claims he's killed a platoon of Delta Force and Butcher reacts sceptically (and indeed it turned out Vought mercenaries had deployed nerve gas against them). I mean, how would Homelander fail to do that?
