I just discovered that Americans watch people pretend to fight, and not only that, they actually pay for the privilege to do so. Are there any documentaries on this strange phenomenon?

I just discovered that turd worlders have internet

Did you really? Me too. I wonder if there are any documentaries regarding this.

It’s popular in Canada, Mexico and Japan as well

Bongs and the Japanese are even more obsessed with fake fighting, if you can believe it. Oh and Pajeets too.

This

boxing and UFC is just as fake.

Fascinating. I wonder what the reasoning behind such a strange, pointless societal interest is.

I just discovered that Eddie Guerrero was raped in the Summer of 89

watch these videos to understand. And this dude isn't even American. I don't even care for wrestling but its obvious why people enjoy it. It is modern greek tragedy. And you may think thats sad but whatever take it or leave it after watching these vids.

Wait till you get a load of the bongs.
They've had a show running since the 60s, and it's just a pretend town of people living fake lives. Pretend working, pretend romancing, pretend fighting.
Bongs actually pay a license to see it, as well watch adverts during breaks.

Wrestling is the capeshit of broadway.

claimed by the way

Oi mate - you telling me that Eastenders ain't real?

thats a good drawing user

>watch people pretend to fight
so capeshit?

Haha lol, I can’t imagine paying money to see someone pretend they’re someone else, doing something that’s not real. Who does that rofl

Pajeets believe it is real though, not sure if that makes it better or worse.

They're beginning to suspect.

WWE produces a lot of documentaries about its performers.

Watch the documentaries Beyond the Mat and Wrestling with Shadows (both highly kino). It's a type of theater in the round.

it's action theater, doesn't need to be more deep than that

Beyond the Mat
Wrestling with Shadows
The Rise and Fall of ECW

If anyone wants to understand the appeal of wrestling, watch Nakamura vs Ibushi from Wrestle Kingdom 9.

The floating La Parka in the corner makes it hard to fap to Scarlett.

Would rather watch Nakamura vs.Styles at Backlash, circa 2018 desu

fuck off Edrone

That feud was a chore to endure. At least the Last Man Standing match was good though.

This is horrible

Is it true about Styles' backstage prayer group? Did Seth Rollins really try to break it up?

Theres a film with the Rock in it called 'Fighting with my Family' which delves in to the appeal of pro wrestling albeit from a British perspective.

Yeah it's 'pretend fighting' but so is game of thrones, star wars, lord of the rings, that's all pretend fighting too. Criticise it for being bad entertainment, not the nature of it being pretend fighting

Can't stop. Won't stop.

Because it’s highly spectacular. It’s kind of like theater for certain types of people.
For example, I don’t watch wrestling or UFC but would much rather see the former because I find UFC boring

I'll be the first to say that even the concept of wrestling is stupid. However, late 90's wresting into the early 2000's was kino. In retrospect, Vince was the best of them all. The writing and characters were great, and him making an ass out of himself in order to entertain people when he already had so much money and didn't need to was top notch.

somebody's gonna get pinkeye

>cheers guy getting body slammed onto thumb tacks
>dog gets scared of some fireworks
oooh no not the heckin' good woofer!

Most wrestling fans stopped watching once they realised it was fake and gay. I remember being a child in the 90's and thinking "okay this part is real and this is fake" with certain matches.

Now the only people left watching are fucking nerds

How is this different from a play or movie?

Creme of the crop

its like a combo of theater and anime

Wrestling in general is pretty stupid but some of the earlier events where American wrestlers would fight Japanese fighters or euros did inadvertently become real fights. They went through the prefight routine and then went in and tried to beat the living fuck out of the other person as a matter of pride. Then you've got that weird 6 months where Vince went insane and started having his fighters MMA fight each other. IIRC Bart Gunn won, and got a semipro fight with Butterbean and got knocked out in 15 seconds and that was the end of it.

it was big in south america and the middle east too. It was really huge in mid 1990s internationality. OP is probably some faggot euro zoomer born in 2006

What's the difference between wrestling and watching a movie at the cinema

Wrestling was kino during the Stone Cold era though. Crazy shit like Owen falling into the ring and Mankind being power bombed through a cage still happened, and the McMahon vs Stonecold feud was the greatest thing on television at the time.

Plus the liveshows were incredible because afterward Stone Cold would just start drinking and hanging out with the crowd and doing funny shit.

There are absolutely no live entertainment events like that anymore. Imagine a millenial or zoomer celebrity hanging out with their fans for free after a show or game.

we're not allowed to watch people really kill each other in a ring anymore

Pay to watch people to pretend to fight? Like all action, boxing, and war movies?
