Back then they made all these promos saying this is the "American Godzilla" "a scifi representation of 9/11" and they imitated Godzilla theme music in their end credit theme.
So I have to say the real American Godzilla is much better than this

Can't forget how hyped I was for the promo. I had watched the "pre 9/11" scene in trailer so many times and imagined how great this was going to be.
Then my life took a dive.
I liked it. The human story parts at the beginning were a bit boring but when things actually start happening it's really good.
I really loved this movie. Had a great sense of scale. It really feels like they’ve travelled a long distance by the end, and you can sort of track where the monster is going throughout everything. If JJ was smart he would’ve made the second movie another found footage monster film, but with a different type of creature.
This movie was an experiment where movie studios wanted to see if they could generate lots of money from a bad movie based on the hype alone. You can see they began perfecting this through movies like suicide squad, and now with the star wars franchise which has no coherent narrative yet still generates billions of dollars.
Was it every explained why the Monster re-appears in the other movie only its fucking huge compared tot he original?
