Netflix and amazon don't have to deal with the Hollywood mark up and everyone associated with them gets steady employment out of it (including the SFX films), so they end up being able to produce an hour of movie quality content for > 5 million.
Plus they don't need to spend 200 million on advertising per show, since they're not asking people to buy a $15 dollar ticket.

If you ignore any part where actors interact with the cg elements, it's pretty good. I was watching the scene where the main characters fuck, and Orlando is "touching" her wings and immediately noticed how it wasn't convincing.

There are a lot of little things an editor should have called out (the wire-fu in the very beginning as another example) that we're almost certainly kept in because of meddling.

It's mediocre, and the creators clearly think what they've made is smarter than it is even though they are just as clearly scared shitless to portray mass migration events in a realistic manner. It's an allegorical strawman.

No user. Thats rare. Most TV is daytime TV level: Random in cast side drama, terrible plot advancement, and most of the episodes is filler.
CG, costumes and sets isn't even where the money is.

I just wish there was more shows like Stargate on TV, at the least for Live Action. Most shows have terrible production quality, and don't even measure up to kids cartoons.

the CGI is terribly bad at blending in with the live action. nevertheless the show grew on me with each episode. its preachy at times, but the latter eps breath a bit early GoT feelings

Even supposedly high budget television tends to suffer from a lack of artistry. And it makes sense, they're shooting 20 times as much footage in the same time it takes to shoot a 2 hour feature, and they have multiple directors and cinematographers of varying degrees of competence and vision. I laugh every time someone claims that television has surpassed film and is where all the talent is.

I love Jared Harris in this.
Everything he stars on is just pure kino. He makes everything watchable.

Also I kinda found the Puck and spoiled girl's love story abit not-forced / bearable. I thought it would be full of sjw/racemixing but it was just fine when you look at it with no scope.
