I think "rescue" is pretty ill-defined and doesn't necessarily require that the animal be traumatized in some way, it's more about the circumstances they were taken from, a perfectly healthy dog taken from a puppy mill is still a "rescue."

Got my guy from rescue 12 years ago, he's not great with other dogs but he loves people, he's on his last legs now sadly, has a tumor in his hind leg. He's still very active and able to get around but I know he hasnt got much left. Its just about having some last good times with him now.
