I don't know but I do know that after the Asylum episode it wasn't worth it because that was the perfect ending for the show because everything afterwards was just going to be House rising and falling again and again in an endless cycle of self-destruction because the drama/plot would require it.
At least the ending of that episode gave us some hope for his salvation.

Kids brother needed the marrow but he had a cold so they needed to treat the cold in a really really narrow frame of time because the drugs taken to accept the donation were already in his system and he'd be dead by the time they could do it again.
So instead of just waiting out the cold they had to find a cure for it(there are literally thousands of variations of cold bugs and they couldn't use anti-biotics because of the transplant).
From memory the treatment nearly killed the kid but in the end they had a really short amount of time left and anaesthetic would have killed him, taken too long for their transplant window or reacted badly with the treatment they gave him so he had to do it without any.

It was kind of harrowing the way that kid screamed and Foreman did it but didn't like it because it made him more like House than he thought he'd ever be.
