There was low-intensity, but real, animosity. Characters were allowed to just be assholes sometimes, without the protagonists having to be perfect goody two-shoes and learn a VALUABLE MORAL LESSON that the other mean kids were just misunderstood. If anything, they only learn to live around each other, not in muh fake idealized diversity.
The show wasn’t mean spirited, it was just allowed to have some mean characters, and treated the audience with enough respect to just let then decide who they did and didn’t like. Most people sympathized with the Eds despite their questionable business ethics, because you could see how much they get shit on in return for it, how hard they work, and how they’re clearly outcasts, and thus underdogs.
It had the right balance of slice of life day-to-day shenanigans, and wacky, over-the-top use of cartoon physics. All of the Ed’s schemes, games, and pranks using whatever junk and hardware they could find lying around was constructed into an elaborate, grandiose architecture that kids couldn’t have possibly accomplished, but which DID look like the kind of thing a kid pictures when they plan to stack boxes high enough to reach the moon, or have spring-loaded monsters pop-up out from the shadows of an open sewer or a construction site. It made the audience’s perception of the world, and of the character’s perceptions of that world, seem so much bigger than what essentially fit into one cul de sac and a few surrounding structures.
Finally, using cel animation (in fact the last show airing to use it when every cartoon since has been computer animated) to give the “squiggly outline,” and the creative, absurd, and creatively absurd use of sound effects, give the show a distinct quality I can’t begin to describe—you just know that every line, every shot, and every comedic pause were collaborative efforts between the storyboarders, writers, animators, actors, and sound designers.
my parents forbid me from watching this cartoon because I would talk like ed all the time. I'm surprised they didn't just kill me and try again, I wouldn't have blamed them
Brayden Brown
I can imagine how annoying it would be for a little shit to run around saying, "mashed potatoes," like ed did 24/7
Parker Lewis
It's genuinely really good with characters that aren't black and white with very funny moments some that might have went over a child's head . The school seasons are a bit meh
Xavier Stewart
I thought they did a good job bringing the show's humor over to a school setting.
And the Big Picture Show was a perfect way to end it.
Samuel Morgan
that's literally what I did. I think I was one of the most annoying children to ever exist. I remember just memorizing sardonic statements from calvin and hobbes panels and just saying them over and over with no context. Awful, awful.
Tyler Torres
Did the Kankers rape eddy's brotherp
Luis Morgan
Shit, why are they always drawn like they have Marfan syndrome going on?
Gavin Phillips
I think it lacked the comfy quality of the summer episodes and it gives the harsh reality that summer will end which bothered me when I was younger so it tainted my view I do remember some quality school episodes
Ryan Hughes
Fuk off zoomer - this show is GOAT
Owen Ross
As a kid I was jealous of the Eds because they never had to school, so it was kind of inspiring to see them still being able to have fun adventures even after summer ended.
Holy shit, I felt really similarly. I always wondered why none of the kids were ever at school (it never occurred to me that they were on vacation) and I always used to wish I could live like that, so when the school seasons finally hit, it was a huge culture shock to me.
Gavin Green
Remember when they very nearly died? Imagine continuing on after this kind of trauma.
This scene didn't make me a footfag, but it did give me a fantasy about being tied up and groped by girls I liked.
Carson Clark
no I think he was just nerdy
Camden Walker
When I was a kid I wanted to live in their world because Edd inventions seemed so cool to me. That episode of the boat was peak comfy cartoon kino youtu.be/5M0bCzzvHyA
I'm also still mad that they cancelled Teen Titans and replaced it with fucking Ben 10.
Chase Kelly
Teen Titans was supposed to end after 4 seasons, they made the 5th because it was so popular. Things Change isn't supposed to be a cliffhanger, it's just an open ending. They were out of ideas, no one cancelled them.
Robert Nelson
The relentless way the show bullies Jimmy with the Eds and other characters often considering him an effeminate nuisance would probably get the odd riled up idiot. The show also portrays the Kankers as trailer park trash with three different dads and a shitty single mother who's clearly inundated her aggressive daughters with aspirations of man-chasing despite being so young.
>disgusting People seem to always have this impression of it, but I've been rewatching a lot of episodes and don't exactly know why it has this stigma. There's really nowhere near as much grossout humor as there is slapstick and clever one-liners.
Yeah yeah its sad and all and I want to go back to being a kid blah blah blah but fucking hell am I grateful that THIS is what I got to watch during my childhood, and not the cavalcade of Calarts and 3D monstrosities that pollute kids TV now. Its like we got to experience the last dying embers of the old age, now we are well within the new millenium and everything is going to fucking hell. Look at the soulless garbage that is Fortnite. Its like a copy of TF2 but with none of the charm.
Aaron Sanchez
People who call it disgusting are aesthetic plebs who hate the art style.
Jackson Harris
Older zoomers would have watched it growing up
Mason Hall

Connor Fisher
Pissed Ed > pissed Rolf > ed = Rolf > Sarah > Kevin > the rest
Christian Brown
Actually funny, better than old spongebob
James Foster
Name a more comfy show
Protip: you can't
David Jackson
Ed doesn’t look to traumatized I forgot they let Dan Schneider guest direct
Juan Jones
I watching it last weekend. Genuinely got some good kicks out a few of the jokes. It still holds up pretty well. Though some episodes can be as boring as I remember.
One of the best shows CN ever aired if I'm being honest.
Yo, that's a character in Ed Edd n Eddy style. Expanded lore
Justin Ramirez
Daphne is such a babe, and with a nice personality to boot!
John White
It would enrage me, but Antonucci wouldn't let this happen in a million years. Even for his time, he was notorious for hating anything that wasn't hand-drawn animation (and as you might imagine, EEnE was the last show on CN to have it).
This along with Courage the Cowardly Dog was my absolute favorite cartoon as a kid.
John Carter
Clammy.
Evan Harris
goes on Yea Forums
Leo Jackson
Courage and EE&E are masterpieces. In a related note how the fuck are EE&E threads faster and more popular on Yea Forums?
Ethan Gonzalez
EE&E online just dropped the Ed-Tropolis update after a fucking decade of bitching.
Brayden Jackson
This gave me such a hard on as a kid. Fucking hell I wanted MArie so bad. Every episode of the Eds getting captured like this got my heart racing. I need to relieve myself to some rule34 shit of this
Charles Diaz
If only.
Lucas Bailey
He's talking in d&d/rpg values you pretendallectual.
Isaiah Richardson
Close. Tom & Jerry is the best. E,E&E is up there though.
Oliver Ross
>mashed potatoes Buttered Toast, philistine.
Kevin Hernandez
They remind him of home. Especially Ed acting as the cul-de-sac idiot.
Isaac Sanchez
I can hear the sound effects
Cooper Myers
He does compare Ed to a village idiot in the fake old country episode. He also says Eddy being covered in muck "reminds him of his youth."
Julian Nelson
Double-D: I don’t remember being so cal-arts and black though. Why am I black? And where did I get dis stomach?
>Tell that to an angry kid who liked solid endings and hated Ben 10. are you literally me?
Ayden Peterson
she's like jennifer carpenter with bigger tits
David Walker
D-don’t do this to me
Nathan Moore
Was Kevin really a bully, or was he just reacting to the bullshit the Eds would do?
Connor Torres
It's got some good jokes m8
Robert Miller
the only adult
Asher Richardson
EEnE is kino and my favorite cartoon from childhood.
There is not a single bad episode and it wraps itself up perfectly in the finale movie.
Cameron Clark
The show itself had passion in every single episode. Based Danny Antonucci flat-out refused to cut costs with digital animation and CGI in the later seasons. He insisted on the hand-drawn animation for 10 fucking years. To date, the only time digital animation was used was during the desert scene of The Big Picture Show (you can't even notice it), which is better than 90% of most films released nowadays.
God bless that man.
Henry Robinson
>mad ed not in its own ascended tier above SS HE ATE A FUCKING SLIDE
Nolan Davis
People don't like the art style so they disregard every other aspect of it because they're ultra-Plebs.
The art style is passion incarnate and the last of its kind, which makes the BPS movie even more perfect.
Kevin Collins
Did a Marie hater made this?
Matthew Howard
TF2 is one of my favorite games of all time (I still have no idea why Valve doesnt do an animated SFM miniseries, since every short is fucking phenomenal), but it is one of the progenitors of the microtransaction-laden "freemium" model that is killing the game industry besides a few developers.
Andrew Bell
>just reacting to the bullshit the Eds would do Judging from the episode where he nearly goes insane from paranoid anxiety waiting for the Eds to try and scam him I would say yes. I wonder how Kevin's first interaction with the Eds went.
