It's taking jabs at both the commercialization of comics characters as well as using superpowers as a stand-in for privilege of any and all kinds - wealth, fame, power, etc. The supes are the elites of the world, more concerned with image than morality, and propped up by Vaught's PR machine by manipulating people into thinking of the supes as "blessed" by God. That's essentially the prosperity gospel in comics form.
