I had this poster in my bedroom when I was 11

can anyone explain the timeline in the alien vs predator series?
as i recall AVP took place in "modern time" meanwhile the aliens where created some time in the future?

There are different ways to create xenomorphs.

Predator - current era, 80s
AVP - current era, late 90s to early 2000s
Alien - far future
Aliens - few years after alien
Ali3n - some time later too
Alien Ress - 200 years after previous film

Prom - some time before Alien
Alien C - after events from Prom, still before Alien

I remember being very hyped about this movie and renting it on VHS from the video store not too long after it came out on home media. Must have been among the last VHS tapes I ever watched.
Anyway, even then I thought it was a piece of shit.

Why were the "predator" in AVP different from that in Prometheus? (and the old predator movie as i recall it).
It seems strange that you have two different kind of predators, in particular if they have no connection to each other.

Are there any of these VS movies where one side unambiguously wins, without there being a little sting at the end that the fight aint over yet?

There wasn't any Predators in Prometheus.

I remember getting a paper ad with this same picture in Predator when I was younger, was hyped AF. Movie was flawed, but I still enjoyed it.
